Re: Midnight minus two
Meh..it's impossible to gauge anything based on midnight madness. No defense was played in the scrimmage....a lot of dunks, a lot of missed dunks, a lot of missed shots, a lot of made shots, the final was something like 31-17, Jackrabbits win.
Griffan (sp?) Callahan is a gamer. Anthony Davis was on 1 crutch, but he looks like he'll be a presence for sure...Dwight Pederson (sp) looked pretty good.
On one hand, I was hoping to see some intensity/excitement from the players, but didn't really get any of that, from the players or the crowd.
On the other hand, I'd rather they not go crazy in scrimmage and get hurt or something...."Life is short so make sure you spend as much time as possible arguing with strangers on the Internet." - Person

Re: Midnight minus two
Scrimmage was a joke.....a few dunks but impossible to determine anything other than 10 guys jogging up and down the court. Obviously the intent was to just show a presence but it's difficult to determine anything.
Dwight Pederson....great pick up for SDSU. Nice body, long athletic could earn a scholarship before he's done playing. Made a nice move and finished at the rim showing some ball handling skills, again no defense played but always felt that Pederson was a late bloomer out of HS and could contribute to the team some time down the road.
Big question will be starting PG? Who will emerge as the starter and lead the team? Could see it being possibly Dale Moss as they seem to be high on him or Palarca or Casey? Will be interesting to see how it plays out as this position in my mind is the most critical for their success.

Re: Midnight minus two
I agree with the move Dwight made. Very nice move for someone 6'8". I also agree with the no defense. Nagy at least mentioned that the defense will be better during the year. Saw next years freshman in the crowd behind the basket. Griffin looked pretty good too. Outside of those comments, nothing else stood out that much.Over? Did you say "over"? Re: Midnight minus two
I talked to Coach Hansen at the game last night and he is really excited to be back and excited for the season. He gave me his thoughts on the team and they are good. He thinks they should be good this year and great next year.

Re: Midnight minus two
When you look at the roster, the only 2 seniors are Casey and Wipf. That pretty much means for the next two years, the team is going to be playing much of the same players for 2 straight years. We haven't been able to say that for a while. Plus adding good players next year for 4 years.Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Re: Midnight minus two
The crowd was decent (maybe 1,500) but reserved. I was pleasantly surprised by Dwight Pederson. He's listed at 6-8 and is bigger and smoother than I'd expected. He won the dunk contest with a leaping, one-arm throw-down after a long (traveling) sprint down the center of the court. Don't know much about his other skills, but he's an enthusiastic guy. Dale Moss' athletic ability and smoothness is impressive. Several players have muscled up. Griffan Callahan might add some needed shooting touch to the outside. Cassaday, who was hurt last year, moved around pretty well. It's no surprise, but the biggest concern has got to be the team's lack of depth at post. With Anthony Davis walking around with a crutch, what he will contribute remains a mystery. A lot of hope has got to be riding on Cordova and Engen. With Cordova listed as forward, I'm guessing there won't be a true center in the starting five. Davis and Engen are the only listed centers on the 16-man roster. This space for lease.
