  • 2011 Recruits

Zach Horstman - 6'5" Sophomore from Winner, SD has verbally committed to SDSU. Horstman is the first commitment out of the 2011 class and is considered one of the top HS athletes in South Dakota. He should be a 3-man at the college level and is a long, athletic wing.

Great get for SDSU and another strong commitment from SD!

This must be the good news that Cadsev alluded too, in another post. Wow, this is a young man that I had absolutely "no" knowledge of. Sounds like a very good deal for SDSU and the Horstman family. So far a win-win situation. If a young man gets a call for the varisty when he is in the eight grade, he has to have more talent than the fellow students two to three years older.

I am please to see Zach follow his grandmothers footsteps to SDSU. Good choice.

Great quote at the end of the article. Thanks for the update.

This is great news...it tells me that we are continuing to identify the future "greats" in South Dakota and getting them committed to SDSU before the larger D-I schools know about them. In the past, our top two or three players have chosen out-of-state D-I schools. But if we can get a good share of the "best" to stay here, it will be very helpful. Way to go Coach Nagy and staff!!!

I agree with Jacks#1fan. And, if Cadsev says the guy appears to be the real deal, that's a high recommendation. A lot can happen with a young athlete but guessing from what's been noted so far, all signs point to a blue-chipper.
