    That was painful.

Anyone give me an idea of road conditions around Brookings and/or east highway 14?

We needed that one.    Up next a good Central Florida team.

I for one am not happy at all. There's no way we should have lost this game, even as short-handed as we are. Teams that are "getting better" do not lose to opponents who are 1-10.

        I'm not happy at all.

Dang. The Jacks made a good game of it, considering the thin (and short) bench. If Loney had been able to play, this would have been a victory. Caddy having to sit out for several minutes with 4 fouls didn't help either.

The map says just wet at this point. I just stepped outside and my sidewalk is starting to feel just a little bit slick.

Well Caddy sits at 666 points after this game. Hopefully its a sign of good luck for us and bad luck for Central Florida. Let's Pack Frost on Saturday.

This was frustrating. Losing to a crappy team twice in one season abolutely sucks moldy potatoes!

I'm beginning to wonder if their coach is one of those who has Nagy's number (such as SMSU's Stemen) and will give us fits every time we play.

filbert, I agree with you in that we should have won this game. Having Cadwell and Frias in foul trouble, plus Yackley being shaken up and Engen essentially out, left us with NO margin for error against a very desperate team. Some of our players definitely were rusty when we least could afford it.

Hopefully, we'll be the desperate (and healthier) team next Saturday agisnt UCF.

                  Nagy:
In the second half, they just played harder than we did. When Matt went out for those five minutes, we just didn't get anything done.

They did a better job against our zone, those are the adjustments. I thought the last ten minutes were pretty good, we adjusted to their adjustments. They shot 56% in the second half, we can't win letting people do that. Jose was puking a lot in halftime, I've never heard a guy puke as hard as that. But we're not going to use those things as excuses.

Our players talked about (Idaho player) shooting 4 3-point shots in about ten minutes, we knew about him.

I'm just sick of playing on the road honestly, Steve, you just don't get calls on the road. It'll be nice to get home and play at home next week.

Garrett's a good shooter, he just hasn't shot well, that broken hand has set him back. He's a lot better player than he's shown. He doesn't even play well and still gets 14 points.

Maybe Casey needs to play Idaho every time. We need Mackenzie to be more consistant for us, he's so up-and-down. He's had some things which have taken his attention away from basketball, and now he's getting back to that.

The players who played Central Florida last year, I remember reading that they were saying it was the lowest moment in Central Florida history that South Dakota State beat them. They do have a good record, but they've been successful at getting a lot of games at home.

Hopefully Kleinjan will be back and back playing well against UCF to add a little depth to our short bench.

It would be really nice if Loney were back, too. With Engen out we'll need somebody to help out Bassett down low . . .

                            Watson, Vandals snap losing streak

MOSCOW, Idaho – It was a long, strange night for University of Idaho senior guard Keoni Watson.

He set a career high with seven assists and had a season-high six rebounds. He got benched at the start of the second half because he delved too deeply into coaching instead of playing.

And finally, he navigated the right side of the lane and took what appeared to be an extra hop before banking in the decisive basket in the Vandals' 72-67 men's basketball victory over South Dakota State in front of 721 Saturday at the Cowan Spectrum.

"It was a college travel, an NBA pro hop," Watson said of his field goal with 45 seconds left that snapped a 67-all score. "It could have gone either way. I'm glad it went my way, though. We definitely needed (a break). It's been rough."

Idaho (2-10) snapped a nine-game losing streak and avoided a 1-11 start for the first time in 35 years. Both Vandals victories have come against South Dakota State (4-11), which played six of seven December games on the road. . . . (read more)
