  • Re: Basketball Personnel Discussion (was Cam Hornb

As someone else has already stated, intramurals don't even start until after Christmas break, so why is it even being discussed now. I think our coaching staff is smart enough to know who to talk to if they would need to find a "walk on" this late in the year. There is a kid who was asked to play two years ago because of numbers, and he is still in school. Believe me, our coaching staff knows who could help us. But it won't be from intramurals, atleast not until after the Christmas break.

Not good news for the Jackrabbits...word that I heard was that Loney went down yesterday in practice with a knee injury. It is believed to be an ACL tear but it hasn't been confirmed yet. We will have to wait and see. This would be another hard blow for the men's team.

I don't want to take anything away from the Bison I think they are doing a fine job in their transition, and they have had a couple of Big upset wins but most of their wins (and losses) have been to the likes of the Mississippi Valley States, Eastern Michagans, and Wisconsin-Greenbays of the world.

I know that losing isn't fun and we all want the big crowds to come back, but how are you going to do it.  What would you do differently given the circumstances that we were in?

            Go State!
I would take a win against the Wisconsin- Green Bay's!

              RC,

You might be missing the larger point that I was trying to make, but since you brought it up .  .  . NDSU record against Winsconsin-Green Bay since their move to D-I is:

              UWGB 2 - NDSU 1

The Bison lost to UWGB in GB in '04-'05, and again in GB in '05-'06.  NDSU did win this season in Fargo.

We will get another chance to beat UWGB next year at Frost Arena.

              Go State!

Did Loney really tear his ACL? We really need his toughness and play on the court.

Word is that Loney is done for the year with a torn ACL and that Kleinjan is out 4-6 weeks with a starined or sprained MCL. All I want for Christmas is healthy Jackrabbit players.

With the short number of players available does that mean that Cordova will probally end up suiting up next semester instead of redshirting?

The way I understood it and I know people who have been in what I believe as the same situation is after the 1st semester if they have a 2.0 or 2.8 or whatever they are then elgible. I just figured that they would redshirt him but with there personal problems I am wondering if they can afford to keep a redshirt on him?

I would say no chance of seeing Cordova this year. Besides the fact he has been at any practices all year, he has a lot of catching up he would have to do to get familiar with the system. So you won't see him this year.

Other people on this board have said he was a non-qualifier out of high school. From what I know this means he cannot practice and has to sit out the entire year.

I really do not understand the American way of getting into University.
Can someone explain it to me...In Canada you have to have a mark of 65 %out of high school to be accepted into University when you are to be playing a sport.
There are NO full scholarships for basketball you can get your fees paid for if you have an 80% or higher.

Plus do all athletes have to take SAT's or ACT's to get through the NCAA Clearing House. In order to play basketball or any other sport for that matter.

Generally, the ACTs or SATs are the main kicker in being eligible for NCAA play. Someone can fill in for me on what role high school grades have, but from what I remember, the ACTs are much more important. Acceptance of an athlete by individual schools is up to that individual school once they've been cleared by the NCAA. Those Notre Dame supporters will claim they are unable to recruit the same athletes as a lot of schools because their internal standards are much stricter than the NCAA's.
