Some random jottings …
SDSU men’s basketball coach Scott Nagy said that it is possible 6-7 forward Ben Beran could rejoin the team next season. Beran, who would have one year of eligibility remaining, averaged 12.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game last season. He didn’t return to the Jacks this season to deal with the passing of his father, but has remained in school. . . . (read more)

My going rate is 50 dollars a story...So I've already had 4 stories in the newspaper take that times 50 = 200 dollars the Argus Leader owes me.... I'll do it if Filbert and 89 agree to the contract.

Re: Ben Beran
Coach Nagy spoke at the Sioux Empire Staters luncheon today and said that Ben is practicing with the team now and will play with them next season. He also stated that it looks like they will go the JUCO route with two schollies for next year for 2 main reasons: a) to even out the schollies for each year, and b) to try and get a low post presence for the team.

If I remember correctly, it was a very generic comment and then something like "I can't say anything."

Re: Ben Beran
It is my understanding that there are some issues that have to be worked out with the NCAA on Berte, which is different from Ben's just deciding he will stay in school next year and use up his eligibility. That's why the coach can't say anything at this time. If those issues are worked out successfully, I understand that Berte will rejoin the team also. It's a wait and see situation for the moment.

Re: Ben Beran
I spoke with Coach Nagy and Coach Larson about Mo returning a few weeks ago. They both felt he would be eligible to play his senior season at SDSU. At that time, Mo was not interested in returning but was looking for another school to take him for one season. Unless something has changed recently, I would be a little surprised if Mo played for State. I'll talk to him and try to get his thoughts on the matter.
Ben is coming back. Things have settled down with his family and he missed playing. It will be great to have him back as we could use some beef in the paint. Hopefully he hasn't lost a step with his year off. Now if only Matt Jones was available...
