To bad we can't get any of the football players to play again. we sure could use some of them that know how to hold on to the ball, score, and win games.

We're better this year than last. Last year this would have been another 20 point + debacle.

And, this team will improve all season long, with all the freshmen and sophomores on the squad.

I'm unhappy we lost but I'm still not hitting the panic button yet.

If Kai deserved that technical(which I'm not sure), he needs to turn it on and play like the leader he needs(and wants?? -- I think) to be. If he didn't do anything(which I'm not sure of - Nagy didn't seem to be talking to the refs about it much), that is BS and I thought the refs had to improve to be horrible no matter the call.

Beran had a hell of a game, IMO, and besides the 3, Bassett may have played his best game as a Jackrabbit - he looked decent tonight.

I agree. Young players, on the road, against pressure all night, throw in some shaky officials, makes for a tough game. The team could have folded up after the huge run to start out the second half but still hung around.

As Nagy said , you're not going to win games when you turn the ball over and when the other team shoots 40 free throws.

Kudos to the Jacks. Watched the game on HLN TV. Just saw the postgame press conference. One of the Panthers is from South Dakota (I think) and had very high praise for Nagy, suggesting that now that SDSU is D. I, kids like him will be more inclined to consider them.

Jeter also spoke highly of the Jacks (and not in the typical condescending tone that most coaches do -- unintentionally, for the most part -- but rather in a forceful expression of how he wished his own team had played in the first half.

Even though I've moved on (as a Valpo fan), I'm finding it hard to tear my gaze away from The Summit League this year, because I think you and the other Dakota are going to make life very interesting this year.

I don't know this poster, but with nine posts to his credit, and all of them on this thread, I should just disregard them, but it is hard for me to understand the kind of cynicism (sarcastic cynicism I suppose)shown in this post. We all hate losing, and the loss was frustrating for the coach and the players.

I say we went on the road, had too many turnovers, gave up too many offensive rebounds, and got hammered on the calls, and lost by nine points. I think we have the talent and will improve...since there will be nobody here this weekend from the students, the team needs help from fans this weekend. I hope they get it.

The point is guys we have been young for four years now, when are we going to have a VETERAN team? In the past we would not make excuses. That might be part of the problem, we are too happy with close losses.

Sorry this is bad on my part

Just frustrated with all of these turnovers and bad rebounding. All of which are fundamentals to the game that should be control by they time they are in college.

Who says we're happy with close losses. I will say I'm happier with close losses rather than 30-40 point losses. We will have a veteran team when we are able to have our freshman recruits move through the ranks for three years along with the others behind them. I think that is going to happen. I think we all know why that hasn't happened.

So we have three seniors on this team, one not on the trip, two (including the one not on the trip) who didn't play with the team last year, and an undersized hard working reserve. Other than that we have five freshmen (two in only their second game with any minutes), three sophomores who played tonight and one sophomore that didn't get in. That's our traveling squad. Lighten up everybody, the season is just barely underway.

P.S. Sorry buschlight, didn't mean to jump on you, just felt the comments were too negative and a little overboard. Apology accepted, and in turn, I understand the frustration!

This team could make some noise in the conference but will need to sure things up if they want to do so....

3 things the Jacks NEED to work on
                        transition defense
defensive rebounds (not giving up offensive boards)
                        turnovers turnovers turnovers

Like #1fan said....we'll have a VETERAN team when we have VETERAN players...our only starting senior didn't play last year so not even he is a veteran really....basically the rest of the team is sophs and freshman.

I didn't get to hear all of the game so I am asking, did we get some home cookin from the Refs? The way Steve described the game and the fact that Nagy "couldn't talk about it" makes me wonder.

One thing that Nagy said really hit home for me! He said, In the first half we showed what this team is capable of doing".

I trust him to improve the things that need to get better.

It was bad both ways but it was clearly worse for the Jacks... They called Kai for a technical for hanging on the rim (not going to say that he didn't deserve it but you don't call a technical at that point of the game)... The refs were weird though they let a lot go in the backcourt but as soon as the ball got low they called the tickiest tack fouls I have ever seen.....
