    Re: A D1 College Roster

I do believe that I saw Cadwell, Kai and Garrett at the game the other night. I have enjoyed watching the men this year. I know it sucks to lose but these guys are right there and they are fun to watch when they are having fun out on the floor. I can't wait until the rest of us wake up and get behind these guys. I would bet if we would have doubled the attendence there would have been 2-3 more marks in the wins column this year and it will only get better.

You are absolutely right. I have to admitt only making it to one game this year (win over Texas Pan American) and I was impressed with what I saw. I know there were very few wins, but especially in Williams I saw a guy who will be a star. And Callahan impressed me as well, I think he came a long, long way during this season.

I think there will be a major step forward next year. And yes, it won't take that much in the way of winning to get Frost Arena rocking again for the men. If they can transition somewhat and right the ship next year to start winning close to half and then be primed and ready for another step forward in 2008-2009 for the first year of full eligibility in the Mid-Con. All they need is to get primed for 3 wins in the conference tourney in March 2009 and the Jacks men will be NCAA tournament bound baby!

I think were a little further away from the NCAA tourney for the men than the near future but that doesn't matter. The fact is, we could be in the big dance as soon as 2009. Williams gives us promise and I believe Cordova will fit in nicely. Beren can provide solid minutes. Whether Moss and Sargeant play this winter, I guess we will see. I'd like us to find a diamond in the rough or two and at least defend our homecourt in the next couple of years. Maybe when Kai is a senior, Jackrabbit Nation will be in Tulsa cheering them on to a mid-con tourney run?

We could very well be in the Big Dance in two years. You have to win 3 games in row at the end of the season. Getting to the postseason will be different than it was back in the NCC days. Having a great regular season won't likely guarantee an NCAA tournament. That means that the best team in the Mid-Con might not be the team in the big dance. The team that is the hottest at the end of the year will be.

I would ASSUME, that if he was going to leave it would of been announced by now....

Not necessarily. Some players do not announce they are leaving until the end of the year.

Oh no, not the old "freedom of speech" comment. Just remember we are talking about a young man's life here.

We are simply talking about whether he is staying at SDSU or leaving not why. The line of interpretation of what you can comment on this board is getting thinner all the time. I guess you can make a case we shouldn't even speculate what kind of player the Jacks might be seeking for next years roster as after all that new player might replace a current player in the starting lineup and thus effect a young mans life. I think most of the players have thicker skin than some of the posters here.

Acceptable sources are:  Printed or broadcast news media (or web sites of printed or broadcast news media), coaches, and players on the team, or other person, BY NAME.  No other sources will be acceptable on this board.  Some unnamed person you talked to in the Union, in HPER, or anywhere else is not an acceptable source.  Other Internet boards and blogs are not acceptable sources.

Failure to cite your source will result in the post and/or the thread being pulled and, quite possibly, depending on how the Moderator's day is going, the rumor-monger getting banned permanently from this board.

Note also that spreading the rumor in the form of a question (i.e. ""Did anybody hear the rumor that Joe Player is leaving the team?" or "What happens if Joe Player leaves the team?&quot falls under this rule. Any other methods of rumor-mongering which in the opinion of the Moderators is not properly sourced falls under this rule.

This board is intended to SUPPORT SDSU athletics.  Unsourced rumors about SDSU student-athletes are destructive to the morale of the team and the entire SDSU community, and as such do not support SDSU athletics.

Read them and understand the very limited scope that they cover, but also understand the rules are not flexible.

Here's the rule as stated by filbert (3-5-07):

EDIT: As I posted this, I see 89 cited the rule articulated by filbert so I'll delete it here.

I think the rule is clear and fair.  On this particular thread, I asked for a little restraint.  The question 'what have you heard about ....' invites speculation.  It could also be argued that the following posts were 'factual' but taken together, the post is sliding down the old slippery slope of speculation.  I put in a reminder: please avoid speculation.

UWMandSDSU's is absolutely correct:  "Oh no, not the old "freedom of speech" comment.  Just remember we are talking about a young man's life here."

I think filbert has previously addressed the freedom of speech "argument" before.
