original question was if Hendo's name was brought up w/ Drake last HC search cycle

The twitter burner community thinks Hendo is in the top tier of names for Drake job. Some Hendo salary figures look to be around $325k (data perhaps 2 years old from this article. McCollum was earning $275k at NW Mo State. Haven't seen any figures about what he was getting at Drake.

I thought the question was whether Hendo was previously considered

Hendo reportedly interviewed at Drake today. Should know in the next few days what kind of chaos the off season may or may not hold for us.

not sure if you're referring to the MVCMigos twitter account. if so, they deleted the tweet about Hendo being on campus and interviewing for the job. Not sure why

Thanks, peavy. Sorry, I missed this before. I am guessing at least one of Keloland's sources was OpenSD, which still lists a $325k salary.

I don't want to loose Hendo but SDSU would/should attract high suitors.

If Hendo leaves does Peterson stay at SDSU and run with the program. He has past coaching exp and can recruit.

This is what I'm hoping for.

I heard, from a dude, who knew a couple of the players girlfriends, last year... (so this is third hand information from a year ago, so take that for what it was worth).

But if Pete left, we'd lose a lot of players. They wanted him to take over. Now, again... I heard this third hand a year ago. Lots of things could change.

It is another wait and see situation. During these uncertain times, I can have confidence that Sell will be doing his job to retain good coaches or he will do his job replacing good coaches.

Peterson darn near left a couple of years ago.
Hendo/Sell bumped his salary … I’m sure he’s the schools preference if there is an internal hire.

John Gaskins sites Des Moines Register as source saying Hendo is considered a top candidate for the Drake position. He has content on his show today regarding this possibility.

                        --------

Eric Henderson is considered a top candidate by to take over at Drake (per Des Moines Register).

Beyond connections in his home state, @johnkgaskins describes why would Drake be a great jump up for Hendo.

Drake wouldn't be a step up from SDSU, in my view, except probably in salary. It's a smaller school (enrollment 4,600) with bad (non-scholarship) football. It plays in a slightly better league in a bigger city, but the Missouri Valley basketball isn't what it used to be. If Coach Henderson wants to move on, he probably could do better. If he does leave, Assistant Coach Bryan Petersen would be a good successor. The Jacks should hang on to him.

This is what Google says about the MVC. It sounds better to me. Drake just won a game in the tourney. Three of their previous head coaches are now in the BIG.

The league has now combined for 20 wins in the NCAA Tournament in the past 11 NCAA championships and has earned multiple bids 16 times since 1994. 42 NCAA Tournament Wins Since 1994 -- MVC teams have 42 total wins in the NCAA Tournament since 1994 with 12 Sweet 16 trips and two Final Four appearances

don't forget NIL (& revenue sharing) - haven't looked to see if they're opting in, but I imagine they won't have any issues being able to outspend SDSU.
drake football is actually a benefit in this circumstance w/ more $$ available to basketball (see some recent articles about bigeast/a10 schools w/o football being able to direct more $$ towards basketball)

It’s last 3 coaches are leading Big Ten programs … it absolutely is a step up in profile, it is a step up in NIL, it’s a step up in conference strength, it’s been to the tournament the last 3 years and 4 of the last 5.
