This will be an extra game against the Big Sky. The Bears have Northern State alum Steve Smiley(80-50) as the head coach the past 4 years. Smiley was also an assistant for Don Meyer after graduation in 2004. He spent time as HC in the JC ranks and an assistant at Weber St. He is finding 7 of his players in the portal. UNC(2-1) played Colorado within 2(90-88) for the only loss. The 2 wins are against lower division teams. The Bears play mostly an eight man rotation. They have some decent length and guards that will match size with the Jackrabbits. Northern Colorado is chosen as the 3rd place preseason Big Sky poll, The Jackrabbits will need to keep their game improving to grab the win. Go Jacks!!

Is #11 Block the same guy who fell down on the Mors closeout? Looks like he had a bit of a leg kickout that lingered on his latest three with Sayler on him. Sayler fell down on own of his own 3's, and then #23 Hawthorne fell down on a three in the last minute. Four shots and four shooters on the ground. Would love to see a call one way or the other since I thought flopping was supposed to be called now.

Once you get past Oscar and Stoney Hadnot, it's hard to find anyone else who played well. Whorton showed some potential as well. There's going to be games like this with all the new faces. Disappointing that Mors, Garry and Barnhardt aren't bringing more to the table.

I think you are right!!! With 5 Fr. playing so far, the guys you mentioned need to bring more to the table. Plus how long might Saylor be out???

Was at the game, no continuity anywhere. Garry has lost confidence offensively, Sayler didn't get any help. Oscar is great, but gasses easily, need to keep him at 20 min/game.

Just need to keep improving, I'd love to see a game in Rapid every year. Very good crowd and engaged.

l spoke briefly with the director of the facility. He was very upbeat about the ticket sales for the game. He would love to see a men/women double header and said that is already a part of the discussion.

Even though we were not shooting it well the defense was horrendous. Is Alvarez redshirting after playing out of need last year or is he that buried on the bench. Did not see Andrell Burton on the bench last night even though he was in pictures around Rapid City, but assume plan is to redshirt him anyway. Sounds like Lindsey is about ready to play by the Holiday Tournament.

Give a lot of credit to UNC. They were very impressive last night. Agree with others, was an off night for the Jacks. Sayler took a lot of good shots but they just weren't falling. Going to be some growing pains. Solid crowd in RC!
