The new Jackrabbits will be showing their stuff tonight. We are guaranteed many new starters this year. If you bring youngsters to the game, there will be treats for those trick and treaters in the South Concourse prior to the men's game. There is also a competition for best costume. Go Jacks!!
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

George Washington won the costume competition.

I was impressed by our guard play. Sayler looked good. #14 can shoot the lights out. Larson surprise start at PG, reminds me of the male equivalent of Paige Meyer. Big boys struggled at times but Cluff had a quiet 21. Whorton struggled. Wilkinson surprised.

      Should be a fun year!

Pretty scary that BHS had the best player on the court.

I didn't get to listen to the game. This thread doesn't paint a rosy picture. We did lose all five starters from last year. I guess I should have expected a rebuilding year. Hopefully Hendo can work some magic.
One hand points to campus...the other to the liquor store.

It's going to be one of those seasons like Otz's first when things were rocky starting the season, and hopefully gelling when we hit conference play. The talent seems to be there, it's just a matter of finding the right combinations and getting them minutes together.

Cluff will need to polish the post moves some, but he takes a lot of contact and he shot free throws well. He received a technical for hanging on the rim which was less than we saw WK3 in the past. Sayler is another SD guard, i.e.Garry, that will be ready for the season. Mors found himself in foul trouble, but he played well. When Barnhart and Cluff are together, there should be some ability to compliment each other. I concur that Jaden Jackson will be a great addition. Hadnot & Whorton have good potential. Bubz had a couple cameo appearances. Wilkinson was a pleasant surprise as he came to floor as others had foul troubles. 2 freshmen starters will take a few minutes even though they both look solid. Larson does not dribble too much as PG. Sayler is not shy about the drive or the long shot. This team will not finish as low as Otz's first team.

One negative note: Wisconsin transfer Isaac Lindsay, a 6-4 guard, spent the game on the bench with a foot / ankle in a boot. I'd heard he was a potential starter. Owen Larson looked good, though. So did backup Jaden Jackson, who is a true point guard. Throw in starters Joe Saylor and Kalen Garry, and the Jacks look solid at guard. Bubz Alvarez appears to have slipped down the depth chart. The Jacks will have to step up the defense, though. BHSU guard Jaeton Hackley scored 35 points (or so) and got the Yellow Jackets to within 7 points halfway through the second half.
                    This space for lease.

#2 is a redshirt sophomore. He did not play last year. His freshman year had him averaging 5.5 ppg in about 19 minutes per game. He scored 156 points as a freshman on 44% shooting and 33% from deep. 25 of those points were scored from the FT line. If he continues this hot pace from last night, he will be in the portal next spring.

I am not sure who was assigned to Hackley earlier in the game. Garry was guarding him in the 2nd half. Hackley had 20+ in the first half. He was still tossing some long buckets under pressure. The game was a career game for Hackley. He and #20 were the sparks for the comeback in the second half. #24 was doing a decent job in the post after they got into foul trouble there. BHS did not give up after being down around 20. The Jackrabbits will need better play Monday.
