Bad news: Mount Marty, Dakota Wesleyan, and Mayville State. Why not just play Augie, Northern etc. instead ?

Good news: Some interesting matchups down in Kansas and with mountain schools. Also the two MAC teams apparently signed a home and home.

I agree. Good crowds would offset the possibility of losing 15% of the time. Would prefer no NAIA schools. Ever.

Well last year in a podcast with Fenton, he mentioned that as a league they would prefer that Summit teams not play sub 300 RPI non-conference teams at home. Playing sub 300 RPI teams at home will have a negative impact on a teams RPI (win or lose). The object for the league is to have all teams raise their RPI in non-conference play. Playing a D-2 or NAIA team at home has no impact on RPI. The Summit League would prefer Summit teams to play D-2 or NAIA teams at home than sub 300 RPI teams. SDSU has a difficult time getting quality D-1 programs at home because of our home court winning percentage.

With regard to playing NAIA teams at home as apposed to Augie or Northern, again NAIA and D-2 teams don't count against your RPI so you may as will play the lower competition. If you did lose to a sub D-1 team then that would reflect badly to the NCAA selection committee even though it does not hurt your RPI. There is no upside to playing Augie or Northern, only downside if you lose.

Playing NSIC teams exclusively in Brookings is a safe bet. I wouldn't schedule the preseason #1 during a rebuilding year but you know.. Otherwise just get Desmet high school instead of the Mayvilles just to be on the safe side

This is a great schedule, as good as you could possibly ask for a summit team. 4 neutral court games against teams in conferences that are higher rated including the big 12 and MWC. A game in Sioux Falls against a solid mid major. 2 non conference home games against top well known mid major programs. A few opportunities on the road vs high major potentially beatable opponents. Play 2 of the top teams in the big sky home/away. Nice mix. You just can’t ask for more.

Last year was just too difficult. Long road stretches against some very good teams. Some back to backs on the road against top 25 teams on the second night!

Kudos to the program for this schedule. I can’t imagine the difficulty in this task with a home record like the Jacks have in a place like Brookings in the middle of winter.
