  • Potential NCAA Tournament Opponents

After winning 21 straight conference games and winning the Summit League Championship, the Jackrabbits have set themselves up for a favorable mid-major seed heading into Sunday. Most experts have predicted a 12 seed for the Jacks with a small chance of obtaining an 11 or 13. The Jacks currently sit at 64 in NET, 11th in Adjusted OFF Efficiency, and 226th in Adjusted DEF Efficiency.

Here are the current potential opponents hovering around the 4-6 seeds:
Team (Record) NET Rating Adj. OFF Efficiency Adj. DEF Efficiency
    Arkansas (24-7) 20 42 16
    Providence (25-4) 26 28 64
    Alabama (19-12) 27 13 94
    St. Mary's (25-7) 19 65 9
    Connecticut (22-8) 18 24 36
    Houston (25-6) 5 14 13
    USC (25-6) 33 36 54
    Texas (21-11) 16 32 15
    LSU (21-10) 17 88 5
    Ohio State (19-10) 22 12 122
    Texas Tech (23-8) 12 52 1

These projections are subject to change as the major conference tournaments play out. What type of matchup are you hoping for? Ohio State, Providence, USC, and Alabama all seem enticing due to their defensive ratings. Regardless, the craziness of the NCAA this year has caused many very talented teams to slip down to the 4-6 seeds; any matchup the Jacks have will be a tough game. Go Jacks!!!

Are there any short, slow and bad defensive teams? If so, I pick them.

Ohio State has a bit of size, but they rank 293 in tempo and 122 in adj. defense. They have two players who average double-figure scoring at 19 and 13 PPG. I think this is the most favorable matchup at the moment.
