If you have been reading here at all, obviously i have made lots of comments about leaving the noah conversation to the coaches, team, admin, etc

some have indicated they find it impossible to understand why others want to stay away from this conversation

here is the deal, the longer y'all keep this going and the more people you involve the more you raise the opportunity for something stupid and or harmful to be said

NONE of us have ANY idea who are all the people who look at this board! players?? families?? potential recruits?? you have no idea. and i can say BEYOND THE SHADOW OF A DOUBT, harmful things have already been said!!!! wouldnt it suck one day to find out that a good player left or a great recruit decided not to come because of something they read on a fan board. and that does NOT even mean that it was written as a negative comment or with a negative thought!!!

it only means that somebody has to perceive it that way and to feel hurt

this team is having such an AMAZING year!!! and there are so many players making wonderful contributions that could be pointed out and cheered

WHY is there so little satisfaction with talking about the accomplishments of the team and players?

      for instance:

to talk about how great it is to have doug healthy again and maybe begin to wonder where he compares to other great players. how many more points is he going to score? how far up the all time list does he go

how much will doug and baylor hurt each other in POY vote?

why do you think Alex is so underrated/ underappreciated?

can matt and charley make the same contributions they have been making lately in an ncaa game?? could one of them be the role player who becomes a hero in an upset of one of the big guys

there are really endless angles and stories to discuss with this team. tough to understand why some of you are so insistent to keep all the conversation around the player the team has obviously decided it is best to keep the focus OFF OF

but if some of you are going to continue to insist on keeping that topic going can you please make sure that you think very very hard about what you write

Compared to the stuff that recruits or families would see on social media platforms, i think would be worse. Fans talking about how they hope a player who was suspsended works his way back to earning a chance to play and his coaches and teammates support.....i dont think it sounds as bad as you think it does. No one is spreading rumors so i dont really see the harm. You lecture everyone who brings it up, but you could post about all those topics and I am sure most would love to discuss that also. When your teams best shooter finally gets on the court again after several months/games, its going to get discussed also.

I worry about Mayo, he has been amazing this year, but he has had some great games, but some he struggled to score also. I hope its not to big of a role to handle. Also I think the reason the team is doing this well and nothing against Baylor, but I think the way Wilson can score and dominate so effectively, teams really cant do anything about it. I think Wilson is the POY for the jacks, but Baylor is the overall better player especially if you look at stats. When Wilson is 100% our team is that much better because of him.

Disagree...Doug is a phenomenal player but the one player we can ill afford to lose is Baylor. Swiss army knife of players out there.

I disagree with your disagreement. Others on this team could take a bit of what Baylor does, shooting, rebounding etc, but no one else can do what Doug does. The 2 years we have had a healthy Doug vs the 1 year he was hurt a lot of pretty good evidence. Summit League teams cant defend Doug, and he scores pretty easily.

Like I worry more when Doug is off the floor then Baylor. But this is debating between 1A and 1B option. If I am drafting a summit league team, I would be happy with either and Baylor overall probably gets more votes, but I think Doug is the reason this team is doing so well.

Im not trying to start anything, but basically say how important Doug is to the overall team success.

No kidding. This is a message board for crying out loud. Of course people are gonna post about it when he's one of the best players in the Summit.

Right, a player got suspsended, its going to get discussed, no one is saying bad things about Noah, we just dont know what the case is but I think most would want him to get back in the good graces of his coaches and teammates and contribute to the team we all love.

I see people posting on here because they care about Noah and the program. Would prefer that over more apathy. Your long winded posts while painful to read many times shows your passion.

i promise you and everyone it was not intended as a lecture. and YES the comments hoping for him to be well and be able to play and all those things of course those are understandable and i would imagine well received. but i also believe and would almost say I KNOW that some of the other comments have caused hurt and or harm. my point was that the continuation of the conversation gives more opportunity for more harmful comments.

I 100% agree that doug is the mvp for our team. baylor is awesome and the team is very balanced and gets production all over the place. but for me it is pretty clear that doug is the gasoline that makes this engine go

and as far as versatility, on defense i have never seen a defender who can so successfully guard any player on the other team. in a life time of watching hoops and over 20 years coaching. i have NEVER seen a post who guards the ball screen better. including guys in the pros. now i am not saying he could do same thing in nba but at the level he is at, he does it better than anyone i have seen.

and offensively he is able to score regardless what type of defender you put on him.

not taking ANYTHING away from baylor or his versatility. that is really one of if not the big key for this team. they have 3 players who can guard anyone on the floor at least for a few possessions very successfully. doug, baylor, and alex

and i totally get your concern about Zeke. it seems like maybe he has hit a slight bit of a wall OR teams have adjusted to him the second time around. i also think, however, that he sees that the team is doing VERY WELL and he is not forcing it.

another question i did not bring up previously, what is the speculation on what luke looks like another year in and minus doug. of course we will have broden and the kid from lincoln next year also, but luke in his own way is nearly as unstoppable as doug right now on the offensive end. he is making strides on D but nowhere near the defender of doug of course. i think he is the poorest defender of the current post rotation

Agree it is 1a to 1b...ultimately for me it's how Baylor makes everyone around him better and he excels in almost every facet of the game. Doug is a 1 on 1 nightmare for opposing teams on offense. That said I don't think there's any combo of players that could help pick up the slack on Baylor's stat line. To me it'd be easier to replace Doug's line. But let's hope we never have to find out.

https://gojacks.com/sports/mens-bask.../stats/2021-22, scroll across the category leaders and it's easy to see they are the guys, almost 1-2 in every category...I just give Baylor the nod for his ability to involve and make everyone around him better...not that Doug doesn't do that but Baylor is a wizard at passing that ball.

i offer no defense for myself. i am definitely long winded. friends and family have given me crap about taking the long way around MY WHOLE LIFE. so probably you are kind of getting the refined/ new and improved version of me))) haha

anyway, i do apologize. but that is probably not an indication of my ability to change

Glad to hopefully see Noah working back to more playing time. He’s obviously one of the best scorers in the summit and will likely be needed on nights when others are having an off night shooting. And even though there has been some issues with this, he brings an intensity to the court that our team needs sometimes

i actually think for the positions they play and roles they have it is tough to say who is the better passer. and this is a team loaded with excellent passers. i mean how many games have we had over 20 assists this year? i feel like they have to be setting a program record for assists maybe in multiple ways

that said, baylor is a guard. they often carry a little more of the responsibility of facilitating. and when he has a one on one situation they are NOT ALWAYS telling him to aggressively try to score. point being passing is a bigger part of his expected role. on the other hand if doug is guarded one on one he is totally expected to aggressively try to score. and doug absolutely makes everyone better because he is THE BUY that other teams have to decide do we double team or not

when he is double teamed that actually begins the problem for the other team. it puts them in scramble. that is the starting point very often for all the extra passes and having teams running to catch up.

anyway i am fine with anyone who wants to say baylor is the better passer. he definitely has very good court vision. but doug is a very very good post passer. and a versatile post passer. plenty of post know where to look as far as kicking out to the perimieter and finding the open guy. doug definitely does that! but he is also a truly excellent post to post passer. he is so good at it that he even has luke recognizing the value of post to post passing and joining in. you gotta admit luke was kind of a black hole when he got here and still can be a bit. DO NOT mean that as negative he is a very successful black hole and he is also TOLD to be aggressive about trying to score

they are probably the two best passers or most recognized but TRULY this team is loaded with people who can and do pass the ball well

and before someone says if guard role is to pass then post role is to rebound. often true. but in our D! history we often have undersized posts and big guards. we have a long history of good rebounding guards and we have traditionally utilized a plan where the posts keep TRY to keep their bigger guys away from the hoop and allow our bigger guards to get more rebounds

we employ basically the same strategy here under hendo that we did under nagy. wonder how much klink has to do with that??? but there is no doubt this team PLANS for and EXPECTS baylor to be a key rebounder

and if you pay attention to how much doug is helping both on the perimeter and also helping on any penetration, then you realize that being in position to get bunches of boards is not the main job for him defensively. they clearly value and plan for doug to help a lot!!! he is an AMAZING help defender!! if he is all over the floor helping then somebody else is supposed to be getting more of the boards
