  • GDT: Jackrabbits vs Cyclones @ Hilton 6pm ESPN+

The Cyclones start juniors and seniors with a top reserve who is a freshman. Their first game was a 17 point win over Ark Pine Bluff. There will be no fans in the seats. ISU is picked to finish 8 of 10 in the conference. They had 12-20 season in 2019-20. There are a number of connections for the Jackrabbit staff and ISU. I will paste that info.
The South Dakota State staff has multiple ISU connections:

Head coach Eric Henderson was a graduate manager (2006-08) and learning specialist (2008-09) under Greg McDermott.

Assistant coach Bryan Petersen played for the Cyclones in 2007-08 and 2008-09 as a recruited walk-on. Petersen hit 97 career 3-pointers. Following his playing career, Petersen was a graduate assistant for the Cyclones for one season under McDermott and two under Fred Hoiberg. He went on to coach Kirkwood Community College to the NJCAA Division II Championship in 2016 and 2019, earning National Coach of the Year accolades both seasons.

SDSU Director of Operations Tyler Glidden was a student manager and graduate assistant under McDermott and Hoiberg from 2006-11.

The Jackrabbits should have a great chance to come out with a victory in Ames as they could add some more good memories for the staff. Go Jacks!!

There will be limited fans in attendance. Hopefully the limited amount will keep Hilton Magic at a minimum.

Jacks' started as 3 pt underdogs yesterday and that number has decreased to 1.5 now. Hopefully this is more of a West Virginia and Utah St. type performance as opposed to St. Mary's. Would be great to get a Big 12 win under our belt.

Hopefully Dentlinger can break out of his little slump. They aren't that big (compared to previous opponents). There guards like the 3 ball according to their last game stats. It will be interesting how our guard size effects them.

Looking good so far. If we keep scoring we should be in good shape.

Scheierman is so much more explosive this year.

It was a good half. 9 turnovers seems high, but 60% shooting is a very good number, 15-10 on boards is a good look too.

ISU is bound to shoot the 3 better in this second half. Hopefully we won’t be as sloppy with the ball and avoid giving them extra possessions. Otherwise, that first half was a beauty.

Side note: Iowa St announcers have been great and complementary of the Jacks. Lots of coverage on all the Iowa connections on the SDSU coaching staff.

Dentlinger looks lost. Maybe he'll get back to his normal self once summit league competition starts up.

Iowa St got it down to 7 finally and Scheierman with a monster 3 off an offensive board. Then the Cyclones coach gets a T.

Looks like he's lost his confidence. Not strong with the ball at all.

Lucky to win this one. Some poor passing, slipping, balls slipping out of hands, tentative to dunk and just too passive at times. Great first half, 2nd half was not great by any stretch.

Arians needs to switch shoes or something, he slipped all night.

Is Dentlinger hurt or sick? He has missed more bunnies in 4 games than he did all of last year it seems.

Glad to get a win without playing great bball in the 2nd half. Iowa St doesn't seem like they'll challenge many in the Big 12.

It's an absolute concern. This dates back to end of last season.

Jacks win 71-68, but they should have ran away with it. Got way too close at the end. Not sure what's up with Matt. I hope his teammates can help bring him back up.

He seems very lethargic and plodding so far this season, gotta wonder what's up.

Most of our turnovers were plain old bad, if we even half them its still too many, but we win the game much more easily.
