Re: GDT: Jackrabbits(11-2) vs dimunitiver pachyderms(9-4) @ Frost Arena
Alex Arians gets it. He does a great job as a role player for this team. He does the little things that make a big difference - defense, rebounding, making an extra pass, taking it to the rack or hitting an open 3 when it's there. Perfect example tonight - we got a post touch that was kicked out to a wide open Arians, who didn't take the shot but made one extra pass to a wide open Flatten, who promptly missed, but playing percentages that's an excellent decision. I like the kids game and he will be an x-factor the rest of the season. Good game for him tonight.

I would prefer to not see the Dons in the SLT if at all possible. Both teams look so comfortable playing against each other. Basketball is about matchups at times and the Dons style seems to matchup very well against the Rabbits. Mike was awesome last night. Just another great performance. Here’s to a Bison victory on Saturday and the Rabbits winning out. If State has to play the Dons in the final so be it......
I know some won’t be happy if we don’t win by 20 and give up more than 50 points but damn was that an entertaining game! That’s the kind of show that makes those watching their first game in Frost want to come back and see another.
I might have to nominate that as Daum’s best overall performance of the year. He turned up the D big time when fouls were a huge issue. Then there was the typical scoring and rebounding. It was nice to see Flatten hang in there and hit a couple huge shots.
Daum’s going to hit 3,000 Saturday. I’m going to hook up the dogsled, get out the snowmobile, or snowshoe if needed to get there and see it!
I know the "give up more than 50 points" thing is a joke but if somebody really thinks that, they must have been in Antartica the last 3 years. Nagy's teams used to do that but they scored a lot less, too. Under TJ, it seems we score about 10-15 more points/game but we give up about that many, too. We still win by about the same margin but the extra 30 (total) points scored/game sure makes it a lot more fun for most fans. We will see either next year or probably in a couple of years what TJ's teams really look like.

Actually got to attend this game.
a few thoughts:
1. Fort Wayne is scary good.... when those guys are hitting 3's... (#41, #13, #33, shoot even their Center banked one from the baseline.) they're hard to stop.
2. Konchar is absolutely a beast. He basically plays Point Guard this year. When he was a freshman he was their starting 4. Scoring, Passing, Rebounding, even had a couple of blocked shots last night. Nothing but respect for him.
3. That was an "all timer" performance from Daum. Just so good on both ends.
4. Jenkins played well, but as someone mentioned above, that small time when Daum was out, he tried to do a bit too much.
5. TK was guarding Konchar most of the 2nd half. He had 17 at half. Tevin really was making him work...and Tevin did a great job of not fouling him on the missed 3, that Coffmann got a T for complaining about. You could see on the replay...no foul at all... just a solid contest.
6. Agree on the comments about Ariens... he just gets it. He's going to be a good one.
7. Sklyer had a poor shooting night, but hit a couple big ones, and I'll give him credit for continuing to shoot... Also, he made a few nice steals in the 2nd half...which is what you want to see when your shooting is off.
8. A great night of basketball at Frost Arena. Just great plays, great players, exciting style... fun to watch.

Go Rabbits!
I think it will happen. Lets hope we are on fire. From the presser, it sounded like FW had flight problems getting here and not sleeping in their own beds, does matter. The coach mentioned the flights but did not use it as an excuse for coming up short on points.
