Was on a few minutes later. On ESPNews. Terrible Skype connection. But still cool. Mike is very good in interviews.

Re: GDT: @ Fort Wayne Wannabe Mammoths

Certainly Daum had an incredible game which deserves a lot of attention but there were some other nuggets in the stats that make me excited for this team moving forward.

      1. SDSU held IPFW to under 30% 3PT FG%. They haven't done that much this year. SDSU has made poor shooting teams look like superstars.
      2. SDSU won the rebounding battle against a bigger team. When SDSU wins the redounding battle they win, period.
      3. SDSU had 17 assists. This team is playing together even with a guy scoring at a level like Daum is.
      4. The team is contributions from a lot of players in Theissen and Hess's absence. Flatten was big Saturday. So was King defensively.
      5. The whole team is getting to the FT line, not just Daum and they are shooting 80%+.
      6. Howell was much more under control against IPFW. He is growing up. He still had 3 turnovers but his presence was positive.

More than any of those, the team is playing with some serious heart. They are getting the rebounds, loose balls, and steals, that they weren't early in the year. The scary thing is the team still isn't very good defensively which means they still have serious upside potential.

This season has been a bumpy ride but lookout for these guys in Sioux Falls. Nobody wants to play them. It is a wide open field and with a huge partisan crowd and the good vibes they have to feel on that court. Get Hess and Theissen back and they could be the team to beat.

      MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, BIZUN!!!

My favorite quote from asst. coach Walker in the Herald article:

"Just wait, Walker said. He’ll get stronger, quicker and more flexible."

A good reminder that we are dealing with a player that is still closer to the beginning of his career than the end. It's hard to picture what two more years of practice and experience might do to a guy that already completely dominates the Summit League.

                      You spelled "Dauminates" wrong.

Agree. The physicality in his game progressed a bunch just from last year to this one. It seems to me he's had a lot more dunks this year.

Which is worse -- being mistaken for San Diego by sportscasters or being mistaken for the 'Yotes by the NCAA?

I think all 4 schools have had issues with it and are tired of it.

I got curious on how Mike Daum's total points scored this season compared to others in The Summit League's history. Currently, he would be in 6th with 743 points. Here's the Top 10 for Total Points in a Single Season, minus Mike Daum.

                                1. 942 Reggie Hamilton, Oakland 2011-12
                                2. 766 Ben Woodside, North Dakota State 2008-09
                                3. 757 Bill Edwards, Wright State 1992-93
                                4. 752 Mike Helms, Oakland 2002-03
                                5. 748 Jay Taylor, Eastern Illinois 1988-89
                                6. 740 Michael Watson, Kansas City 2002-03
                                7. 735 Nate Wolters, South Dakota State 2012-13
                                8. 730 Travis Bader, Oakland 2012-13
                                9. 721 Nate Wolters, South Dakota State 2011-12
                                10. 720 Winston Garland, Missouri State 1986-87
