Re: GDT: vs. Jungle Kitties of IUPUI

55-52 Jacks at the under 8 media timeout. Jags ball coming out of the break.

Telly has been playing wicked awesome defense. Flatten looking pretty good as well.
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

Jacks up 64-57 at the under 4 media timeout. IUPUI's Combs will be going to the line out of the break. 70+% FT shooter.

And the Jacks pull out away with the victory, 81-67 is the final.

Daum with 26 (12-12 from the FT line), but the rest of the crew played well in the 2nd half (55 points total in the half), and that was the difference.

25 fouls called in the first half, 24 in the second. Officials sucked but were consistently sucky.

Big win. Jacks now in 6th. Could jump into the middle with a win on Saturday.

Looks like USD will be the #1 seed (I know, still 3 games left.) but they do hold the tiebreaker over NDSU. NDSU will probably be the #2 as they own the tiebreaker over Denver.

Jacks could be in the 5-7 seed range. Not sure what I'd rather have. Maybe be a 7 seed and play the Bison right away or play on Sunday and have to potentially play 3 in a row?

I'm ok with playing the Bison right away.

Tyler says the Jacks are optimistic Hess could play Saturday. That could be big. Gonna need a lot of offense in FW

IPFW still worries me as much as anyone in the conference.

I think I'd prefer to play USD vs NDSU or IPFW. But doesn't look like that may be a likely option.

Don't follow State close enough to know how long Hess and Thiesen have been out, but perhaps a better team without them playing? Not saying they are, simply asking the question.

I would not say that. Theisen can be used to spell Daum, protect him from fouls and create mismatches (2 posts). Hess, I'd at least like to have on the bench as a scoring threat when things go like they did in the first half tonight.

Excellent second half tonight. I hope Telly keeps his shooting mojo rolling into Sioux Falls. That's a huge boost.

ORU now would have to win 2 out of 3 road games (and get a tiebreaker) to catch the Jacks. I bet we'll end up 6th or 7th.

Outside of maybe getting USD, I don't have a clue what would be best for the Jacks in Sioux Falls. Rolling in with momentum would be nice, but I think that's probably overrated.

Nah. In league play,Hess is our second leading scorer and rebounder. Theison is another post that prevents teams from doubling Daum.

Impossible. He's a liability on defense.

I'd like to see Jacks play USD in the first round of Summit. I'd prefer that SDSU not have to play Fort Wayne.

We do need another perimeter shooter, and Hess should fill that role nicely. I feel bad for Lane because I know he wants to contribute as a shooter, he just doesn't have confidence in his 3 point shot, and frankly I think he should stop shooting so many. Tonight there were too many wasted possessions (0-4 from 3 pt), especially considering he's statistically our worst 3 pt shooter. Yes, even worse than Orris. I love how hard he plays and he's definitely needed on defense, but on offense he needs to defer imo.

On a related note... It is amazing how much disrespect teams are giving to Orris in terms of him being able to shoot anywhere outside of 6 ft.. One would think they would be able to take advantage of defenders sagging so far off of him. Just thinking out loud here, but maybe have him hand off to Reed and screen Reed's defender. At least it would make Orris' defender have to come up to show instead of clogging up the middle. I digress.

I don't think it really matters who we end up playing in the Summit League tournament. The whole Summit League is a mess, and there's no clear cut favorite. I wouldn't be surprised if only 1 of the top 4 seeds advance to the 2nd round.
