Re: 2nd Week of January and still no set rotation

This came up in Zimmer's chat, and I don't really want to start a thread about it so I'll bring it up here. It was said the coaching job was turned down by someone before Otz was hired. If true, does anyone know who the mystery coach was ?

Did he "turn the job down" or did he pull his name from consideration? I don't recall if anyone ever confirmed that DeVries turned anything down. But hey, there was an expert with supposed inside knowledge on Zimmer's chat. I read Matt's chat after it was re-posted. Surprised Miller's name wasn't mentioned. Oh right, it was. Zimmer mentioned how many fans wanted Miller to replace Nagy when we were having so many issues. A time frame that went up to and included Nate's freshman year.

By the way, I was bored and went back into the old, who you got thread when we were searching for Nagy's replacement. Seems a lot of TJ's biggest critics today were big fans of Miller and Billeter(sp). Interesting how that works.

Hindsight is always pretty good eh? Just because it's been rocky thus far doesn't mean TJ is a failure. I'm disappointed in this season and question some of the decisions made, but still attest he needs time to learn, grow, and stock his own cupboard. Miller and Billeter could have struggled just as much as TJ has appeared to thus far.

I still shake my head at the people calling for Nagy's head during the transition. Soooo much of the struggles were out of Nagy's control. I'm thinking Holdren getting hurt (which I believe directly resulted in him transferring) and the sexual assault thing with Gilbert and Berte. Nagy really turned things around but it took time. TJ deserves the same chance and I believe he'll get it and I also believe he will turn this around faster than Nagy turned the transition years around.

I'm am pretty much ALWAYS backing the coaches.

                This hasn't changed.

                But.

                I'm a bit concerned.

However, I know the coaching staff is doing their best...and what us fans feel... I'm sure they feel x 100.

No choice but to keep the faith.

My exact feelings about the coaching staff. I want to keep thinking things will turn around and then the same thing happens. I actually got to meet Coach Otz during the games at the Pentagon. We just happened to be in the elevator by the Pentagon at the same time. We had our grandson with us and he was more than willing to chat with him and us. But of course being a great guy doesnt make you a great coach. I hope im wrong.

anytime someone puts a blanket statement out there that the best chance we have to win in only zone is concerning. Every opponent is different and I would say about 99% of the coaches make adjustments with who there opponent is And gameplan differently for each opponent

think if you didn't make adjustments on defense based off your opponent in football, baseball, tennis, wrestling...heck even on the golf course.
