So this is acceptable defense in your mind? Do I sound like somebody who's giving up? I've been watching Jackrabbit basketball for almost 50 years. This is the worst defense I have ever seen. Giving up would be not caring that we can't stop anybody. We don't need to be the best defensive team in the country to win. There are a whole bunch of great offensive players on this team, including one of the best in the country. A little defense would be enough.

Is wailing about it every post really necessary though? Have you not figured out after the entire OOC that we will be running zone? If all you want to watch is man to man then nobody here can help you.

I was just messing with you. While you are being highly cynical, I'm looking at the bright side and seeing the improvement from the beginning of the year. They are not playing to their full potential yet, but I believe they are getting there.

Are you kidding me? Wailing about it in every post? I've posted about six times ALL SEASON. Jesus. You'd think we just won a game. We got smoked by a WSU team that is good but nothing like they were for the last few years.

I was just messing with you. While you are being highly cynical, I'm looking at the bright side and seeing the improvement from the beginning of the year. They are not playing to their full potential yet, but I believe they are getting there.

I guess I don't see how worrying about bad defense is being cynical. Have they improved? Sure. They're really coming around on the offensive end. The defense tonight at the three point line was not good. At all.

Obviously the defense needs work. But the team we just played on their home court is going to be one of the top 2 or 3 teams we play all year. They are the #4 team in the mid major poll. A team that only lost by 10 to top 10 Louisville and 5 to Michigan State. A team picked to win the MVC going away. Obviously it would be nice to see them stay a little closer but now we get to start conference play were it matters most.

If we are still playing this poor of defense and start losing to teams that we should probably beat then we can start to worry. Lets not forget we still have won 6 out of our last 8 games with this loss.

Are you kidding me? Wailing about it in every post? I've posted about six times ALL SEASON. Jesus. You'd think we just won a game. We got smoked by a WSU team that is good but nothing like they were for the last few years.

While they aren't what they have been they are still going to be one of the top mid major teams in the country this year.

Jacks were 1-5 playing man and the win was against Wayne State. They are 6-3 playing zone. Two of those losses were at Northern Iowa and tonight. We wouldn't have won either playing man. And we might not have won either game with last year's team. I think part of the reason for the zone is to protect Daum. If he plays the 5 and we play man, he's going to take a pounding going against the bigger post players - less likely to get in foul trouble and more likely to be able to hold up physically and play the 35 minutes a game we need him to.

This also probably a huge part of it. If we start playing man to man and we lose some games we shouldn't because Daum gets into foul trouble you will have people complaining about that. Was the last time Daum was in true foul trouble this year?

I am not a zone hater. I am a terrible defense hater. After watching this game and the number of open 3 point shots for the Shockers, I would like to have a therapy dog available. The coaching staff will play the defense they want. That is their decision and they will be the people that sink or swim with the results. I am hoping for better performance from this defense direction. The Jackrabbits were outrebounded by 9 and 5 of those extras were offensive. Second chance points tonight was 18-2 in favor the Shockers! The Jackrabbits helped the Shockers set a new record for made 3 point shots tonight. That might be the trademark of this defense this year. Now you can tell me to wait through the process and I am waiting. I just need some counseling and maybe a coloring book to get me through this time thing. I am confident that there is enough talent at SDSU to put together a good Summit season. A side note for the Nagy haters...Wright State(9-4) wins at Murray State 77-62 tonight.

Lost a little respect for Marshall when the Jacks cleared the bench with over two minutes to go and Wichita left the starters in jacking up threes. I get going for a record, but really doesn't mean much to me getting it that way. I realize the "if you don't like it do something to stop it" philsophy, but I still thought it was kind of a dick move on Marshall's part.

The Shockers have also averaged 34 point victories at home this year. The closest game before today was 27 points. This would be his notion of creating a resume for a better seed come March.

The zone may work at home because historically it's tough to shoot on the road, but for most teams if your at home with a bunch of wide open 3's....that's a different story. This team unfortunately is going to really really struggle on the road. We beat drake on the road but who hasn't.

Im not saying he is guaranteed to get into foul trouble if they play man but it is proven that you foul more when you man compared to zone.

Count me as one who is skeptical of our zones. I watch and feel like I'm hoping for a miss.

I don't really understand why we TJ refuses to play man even if it's just a change of pace look. This team can't be any less "athletic" than our teams with Wolters and they did ok with man d.

We've improved a lot since the beginning of the season but we've still been winning kind of ugly.
