Nice to see Hess and Daum have big games. I think we'll see that quite a bit this season
I think that those performances would win 90% of the games we play...Idaho was just too hot from the outside.

Keep getting better...the season doesn't start until the conference season.

The guys are improving. My preseason hope was the team would have it together by the time the conference games start. I think we're in line to do that.

      Hess -- wow!

Several costly turnovers in the second half, and the perimeter defense needs to get better. The guard issue isn't resolved yet, but the Jacks definitely are improving. They played tough, and Hess looked great. The game went OT, and both Daum and Thiesen fouled out. That's a potential issue, too.

I at least seen some fight out of this team tonight that I did not see the other night. Your not going to win many games when a team gets that hot from outside. Some can say our 3 point defense was bad but I highly doubt they shoot that well again. I'm not saying our defense was great by any means but sometimes shots just fall. Over all I was glad to see an increase in energy level.

            Re: GDT: Idaho

Well I know it will take a while to get use to TJ's scheme. We do play zone on defense and I can count the number of times we have played zone under Nagy on one hand. If your not use to playing zone, it will take a while to adjust to that system. Playing zone also really hurts in defensive rebounding and I am not sure that we are a strong rebounding team anyway.

It was good to see Hess have a good game. We are going to need his scoring to keep up with the amount of points we giving up. We really only have three scoring options, Daum, Telly and now Hess. Gentry actually had a good game in scoring also.

We just need to be patient. I do think they played better in the last two games than the first two games.

Shot well from 3 and the free throw line, but gave up 96 to Idaho and lost. This is going to be a really ugly season.

Not because it was Daum last night. I've always thought that with each overtime played each should receive one additional foul before fouling out of the game. If a player fouls out in regulation he's out and can't re-enter. In last nights game a player would've been allowed six fouls, not five. I've watched many college great overtime college basketball games where the best players aren't on the floor because they fouled out in overtime. I like games decided by the best players not substitutes. Just my two cents......

Was Klink on the bench last night?

                Go Rabbits!

Here are two points for those that are freaking out about giving up 96 points to Idaho:

                  - They had 78 points at the end of regulation - quite a lot, but nothing that ridiculous.

                  - The 2014-2015 SDSU team (the one that went 24-11 and won a game in the NIT) lost to Idaho on this same court. They gave up 82 points.

                  For what it's worth......

                    Re: GDT: Idaho

The part of the offense I didn't like was passing the ball around the perimeter for 20 plus seconds of most possessions and than scrambling to try a find a shot. The post players usually were located at the free throw line trying to set screens. I realize Theisen is not a good low post scorer, but posting him low and getting him an entry pass would force defenses to not totally sell out on the perimeter, even if he kicks it back out every time.

And this Idaho team is currently 5-1 with a win at ULAR and is picked 2nd/3rd (Coaches/Media) in the Big Sky. It's not like they are a horrible team. We were in position to win this one.

Not saying we will be great by the end of the season but we've improved a lot since game 1.

It did seem like our passing was shaky. they had enough pressure, but guys didn't seem confident trying to pass around. little things like floor spacing etc. a few times the ball got passed to a guy who was literally next to another player and then its like you had less room to move and like 2 defenders there. If your going to pass it to the corner you cant have 2 guys standing there.

I think we have gotten used to being "the team" in the Summit. We will be fine. Much like the Wyoming game you can saw improvements in the Idaho game. If we can get better every time we step on the floor we will be fine. That's what matters right now.

Klink was back in Brookings for this game attending the funeral of Bob Roe. Bob was a longtime Jackrabbit supporter, avid hunter and avid golfer. Three things Klink and him had in common. We lost a very dedicated friend, Jackrabbit fan, supporter and donor far too soon this week. RIP Bob.

Also..... after what I saw from Fort Wayne last night, this might not be the worst time to have a bit of a rebuilding year!
