    Re: Wayne St

People need to relax about this team. The talent is there. Let them mesh for the first month of the season. Remember when NDSU almost lost to Crookston a few years back? They ended up winning the SLT....

We need to remember this team lost Parks, Marshall, Bittle and Moffitt. Plus Nagy. What would our women look like if Miller, Guebert, Young and Alexander were suddenly gone. Oh, and AJ too. It is going to take time for things to gel and for everyone to figure out their roles.

We need a Marshall plan to save this program. One of our guards needs to step to George's level and do so soon.

Yes, it will take time. Too much lost from last year. Like others have also said, nice if Devine would have stayed and Moffitt gotten one more year. That would have given some stability. When will good practice time come before Dec? Five more games - 11/19 - 11/27 - none at home unless Sanford Pentagon considered home. Hope we are not 1 - 7 at that time.

            Re: Wayne St

Seems to me that a rough patch is to be expected, while Otzelberger figures out what things which worked at with Iowa State/Big 12-level of recruits/athletes will not work at the SDSU/Summit League level of recruits/athletes. A lot of that's going to be figuring out exactly how to compensate for the (relative) drop-off in pure talent level with scheme and toughness that other posters have suggested.

Simply put, SDSU, at our level, in our conference, needs to play different basketball than Iowa State did in the Big 12. This doesn't mean that SDSU can't be as successful as Iowa State in men's basketball, but that it has to be successful in different ways.

(It helps that we don't have Kansas in our conference, you know?)

The really remarkable thing would have been if Otzelberger and the Jacks came out of the chute for Game 1 on fire and taking no prisoners. TJO might have been gone after this year if he'd done that, and he and the Jacks had kept it up all year.

Basically, they have until the beginning of the conference schedule to figure things out. This year more than most, the pre-conference season truly is a "pre-season" for the Jacks.
