I am not panicking yet but this is exactly what I am feeling. I started getting season tickets 10 years ago during the dark days of the transition. What I have watched the past three games, which includes the exhibition game, (yes, a very small sample size) is similar to those dark days. I don't want to ever go back to those days.

I have taken a deep breath and will hope for improvement as the season is still very young.

It's seems difficult to duplicate the dark days. We still could have good season. The guy who filled for Tyler on the radio seemed to be talking to the citizens of Irvine, but he did make one point and that was Irvine was athletically superior. We did loose four guards and this is an area where we really need to step up. Defense is falling short as well. That short clip showing TJ coaching convinced me that he knows his stuff.

Need confidence and practice. Need to get to more ball movement for better shots. Defense is a lot easier to play after a make.

UCI fell to Cal in OT 75-65. The Anteaters are a tough team this season. Jacks will see them again on Black Friday at Pentagon.

Severyn didn't even get in the game last night against Wayne State. He does bring a lot of energy when he does get to play but seems very tentative on offense, maybe has lost his offensive confidence??
When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important than the name on the back.

I think that TJ is still feeling out his players.

              Ian-

              #1- Didn't play in the exhibition game(injured).
#2- He played 24 minutes and you could argue that he might of been one of the best player on the team. He was 2-5 shooting. He only got one rebound but he tied for the team high with 2 assists and didn't have a turnover. Reed and Daum both scored more points but the were 5-13 and 5-14(?) shooting. They both had more rebounds but they both had more turnovers. King was up there too.
#3- He had 2 early fouls and only played 11 minutes.
#4- He played 11 minutes again but I thought it was fun watching him guard a 6' 3" player. Daum was chasing their 6'7" player so there wasn't any good matchup for him.

              Lane-

#1- He played 18 minutes and had as good game. He had 7 points and 5 rebounds. He was probably the 2nd or 3rd best player on the team.
#2- He struggled. He only had 3 points and 1 rebound in 16 minutes.
#3- He played 6 minutes so he didn't have time to do much.
#4- He didn't play at all. I thought that he would play more in this game. I thought this game would fit him well, they didn't have height so he could play PF and not play somebody much taller/bigger all game.

It's early but both players have played barely 10 minutes/game so we will see how things unfold as the season goes along. I think both players might be in the top half at shooting 3-pointers on the team this season. They need Skyler and Hess to start hitting shots or it could be a long year. I don't see King, Howell, Wallace or Orris as being much for outside shooters (of course I've only seen them play a couple of games so that that for what it's worth). I don't know how to feel about Gentry, yet.
