Good for him, I've often thought you don't make a DI roster if you aren't a good basketball player. Sometimes a program just isn't a good fit.

Too bad he didn't work out, but happy for matt.

We went to a team camp there after his freshman year, and he was running the clock. Really nice, friendly young man.

I am amazed with his turnaround, but what are his defensive stats like blocked shots rebounds etc. Something tells me that the reason he moved on was his defense and rebounds was not up to snuff. Enough snuff said.

I stand to be corrected he had 7 defensive rebounds and one blocked shot against Green Bay they won 103 to 93. Maybe a good one got away.

Another former player caught my attention when I happened to catch some UNK highlights on the local sports a week or two ago. Taevaunn Prince went for 38 points and 13 boards at that night in a losing cause. Granted, he stepped down to DII, but he's having quite a season at Missouri Southern, averaging 26 ppg and 10 boards. He looks leaner these days.

Matt Donlan led the Horizon League in 3 point % also. More than 80 makes at nearly 47%.

For whatever reasons, Matt was not happy at SDSU and I for one wish him the best at YSU.

This helps to highlight the differences between D2 and DI athletes. Taevaunn was destined to be a role player at best with the a DI program. He is able to excel at the D2 level. Great for him.
