    xenophobic

A person who is fearful or contemptuous of that which is foreign, especially of strangers or of people from different countries or cultures.
How can we trust those Norwegians who claim to be Augustana? Uff da I am one of them that could not afford the Advantages of Augustana University.

There were some good points made in that Scott Nagy thread in the Smack forum that I actually appreciated reading. Thoughtful, logical responses that gave me a better insight about SDSU athletics. Why is that such a rarity compared to the, "Shut up, your opinion doesn't matter because you support a school that isn't the same division as us" response?
I tend to agree with this for the most part. Being new here, I have observed that some of the 'veteran' posters have a tendency to kill some good conversation and banter by quickly shutting it down and claiming "nope, you're wrong, that's stupid, stop posting", rather than having a decent discussion about it. I'm not talking about when some people come on here and troll, that's a different story, but I think some of us get too defensive too quickly.

Recruiting is a big part of college sports. Terry embraced it apparently. Zim doesnt have to go that far, but a little effort to please your fan base probably isnt a bad idea.
Just so we're on the same page, you want our beat reporter to relay already public information?

Maybe I'm the odd man out, but I'd rather our beat reporter focused his attention on the teams we have instead of the teams we might have someday. He is doing an overall good job of that, IMO. I have very low interest in recruiting, maybe if its a local kid I am a little more interested.

Absolutely agree, although I may be guilty of it too. We want to be "big time", that means getting fans who have ties to other schools. How many Iowa (Nebraska, Miami, Oklahoma, Texas, NDSU, Montana, etc) fans don't have a degree from there or even ever attended a class there? Sheesh.

yeah, if it envolves SDSU I would like him to put a little effort into following recruits. mostly those who verbal and sign but mentioning some kids at schools we are looking at shouldnt really kill him to do so.

National appeal all across the country, that would be great exposure for recruiting, doing better in the NCAA tournament would be an excellent start .I'm hoping this is the year we end our first rd drought we've experienced in the NCAA tournament for the women and men.We need to get higher seeds.

Basically, it may not matter in the long run, but throw us some peanuts to keep us busy in the meantime so we don't get restless like this... TV was good at that, he did enough to keep us entertained. Zim could care less about entertaining us, and is only worried about reporting what we need to know, and nothing more. Not a bad thing, just a different style that we will have to get used to.

                    Guys,

Matt wont ever be Terry, do whatever you have to, to come to grips with this. Imagine if Matty Z. comes and sees all of this. don't we all look very unappreciative? and I won't even ask how may complaining have a subscription to the Argus, I'll just assume you all do. Some of the gripes are reasonably parlayed and some are not. I know Matt he's a big boy, just ask if there is something more you want. he'll try to accommodate if can I'm fairly certain of that.

I didn't say I wanted Matt to be Terry, I was just pointing out differences, and I stated that we will have to get used to it. You don't need to apologize for him.

Pretty much. I dont think people are expecting a whole blog based on recruiting, but like you said. Terry would give nuggest and his tuesday tibits, the back of the notebook stuff he would share. Zims articles are not an issue. He is a good writer, does a lot of good things. Maybe Zim once he has better engrained himself in SDSU connects and such. When he would write his week that was blog, sometimes it was just to much to read at a time. Maybe I perfered Terrys couple paragraphs.Seemed like with his articles and blog posts that Terry would fit recruiting bits in there. Just felt like Terry would pass on the recruiting info in those ways. Oh well. Not that its a huge issue really if Zim never does. It would not be the end of the world if he never looks at the recruiting side of it.

Can you be unappreciated if there's nothing to appreciate? I don't think so. Just for recruiting news i'm say'n,don't miss characterize this to include not appreciating what he does do, and does well.I do appeciate that.A little more recruiting news would be nice, though.Terry was a social media whiz type,Zimmer maybe not so much.I understand that and am willing to give him a little more time to get better at that.I hope he listens to and keeps his finger on the pulse of what his followers are clamoring for and does, to the best of his ability, give them what they want.Certainly he doesn't have to,just hoping he would want to

Its a slow day. Must be that way at work for some of you too, since we are commenting over and over about the fact there are no early signings for men's basketball. So what is the problem? Should some one make up some s*it? Oh I suppose I am one of those who discourages banter. Sorry!!

Here's a PG for next year that the Jacks have had some interest in recently. http://www.goreivers.com/sports/play...all_m&int=2395. Played at Eden Prairie in the Twin Cities. Pass first kid that would be a nice fit as a JUCO. Of course, I think Gentry has a TON of upside to him so who knows. Still not sure there is another PG on the roster for next year.

Nothing better than "motorboating" the Gophers!

Even if Gentry is the real deal, you need at least two good PG's on the roster. A JUCO who could come in and contribute right away would make sense. And you would think the success Parks has had would be a good selling point.
