    Re: Omaha

Yeah,i would think identifying shooters and the ol' hand in the face would greatly impact opposing teams 3 pt. percentage. According to kenpom the defense has little control over it's opponents 3 pt. percentage.

Read the article....and to think that I always thought FT defense was a joke....being everyone has to stand stationary at a distance and just watch the ball til it hits the rim...hhmmm

Besides, I disagree, give a player 100 shots with 3 sec between every shot, time to square up,feet set...he'll hit a lot more than when he shoots a 100 shots with a hand up a 1/2 ft from his face and 1 sec to shoot after catching the ball,I guarantee it.....that's what defense does....make things more difficult and the better you are at defending, the more you impact the offensive players percentages. All he's saying is it's better to deny the shot altogether than to try and affect the shot....duh, who doesn't know that. Can't really understand what message he's trying to convey, that playing perimeter defense is a wasted effort? His message is kind of ambiguous to me....oh well, I digress. I'm old school.

I'm with JackMD as well. Lots to prove yet but it looks like there's definitely some potential there.

Marshall named Summit Player or the week. http://thesummitleague.org/sports/mb...20150112smumwl

Marshall garnered his first weekly honor after averaging 21 points per game in pair of Summit League victories. In the Jackrabbits' win at Omaha, Marshall scored a career-high 25 points, including a career-best five three-pointers, and added three assists and two rebounds. Earlier in the week, Marshall led all scorers with a 17-point performance in a victory over Western Illinois. He knocked down four-of-seven shots from beyond the arc and pulled down five rebounds to go along with two steals. For the week, Marshall shot 55.6 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range.

Most definitely potential, needs to be realized. Have to go 3-0 with this home stand.

I do not doubt there is enought talent to be in the Summit Leauge hunt. I have seen where they have not had good starts to games which is where Coach Nagy indicated a need for more urgency to bring some grit to the entire game which of course has a defensive base. It appears the players are responding. IUPUI is 2-1 coming to Frost with their loss in OT to ORU at Tulsa. The 2 wins are over 2 of the preseason favorites IPFW and Denver. Should the Jackrabbits subdue the Jags, there should be a few more to credit the evolution of this squad. It is an important game to stay in the top half of the conference race.

Basically , the only proof that means anything will be who is left standing after the Tuesday night game at the Sanford Center on March 10th. But at this point , I believe the Jacks are trending in the right direction.

Yes he has earned them, and this was Nagy's plan to begin with because since Marshall he had sat for a year.

I feel like if you had conference season right away and non conference season afterwards the stats would flip around. The good conferences play teams from bad conferences and destroy them statistically and the bad conference teams play some good conference teams and get destroyed on average. The average teams and conferences would be neutral. Am I missing something or isn't this obvious ?

These assumptions seem to make sense. They could provoke another study.
