    Re: Renovated Frost

I have a question about seating arrangements once Frost is renovated. Will I have based on current Priority points the same seats? Or will they reshuffle the seating arrangements? Also will there be other expectations such as a ten year commitment to keep the current seats? Just curious if anyone has any inside dope on this matter.

I believe the rendering from Crawford is actually the earlier, preliminary design and the plans in the SDBOR document from EAPC are the more developed conceptual design. EAPC also has a page on their website showing additional renderings. Scroll down to see the complete gallery.

I really like the direction they are going with utilizing bleachers on the end lines of the upper deck and on one of the lower ends. It also looks like the ends will be pitched steeper which should really create a wall of fans and a great atmosphere when filled up. This also gets the end line seats closer to the floor, which should make some of you happy.

Correct! The practice facility is going first so both Men's & Women's teams have a place to practice during Frost Renovations. If they started on Frost first they would only have the Barn to practice in until it's finished.

Yes. Sorry. For whatever year they move in.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thing the current timeline is this...

    Phase 1: Practice Facility
    - Breaking ground early spring 2018
    - Projected to be completed late fall early winter of 2018

    Phase 2: Frost Renovations
    - Starting the end of the 2018-2019 season
    - Projected to be completed before the 2019-2020 Season

**Is the goal still to avoid playing home games in an off campus facility (Swiftel Center, Old SF Arena, etc.) like NDSU had to do a couple of years ago? Very impressive if this project can be completed without having to play home games off campus.

The invitation to bid is for Phase 1, which is building addition for the practice courts:

Yep, the lower the court side seats are the better it is for views from the end. felt like when we were first students there on the sides, we were right behind the scorers table. it was great being that low and close to the court. Made it fun to heckle the other team that way. Some of those D-2 crowds I felt were a lot of fun. having 8000+ for the USD games etc was pretty cool.

Since I cant donate millions for the project they probably wont care what my opinion is.

But going to hanging baskets takes away that exciting crash into the padded floor standing basket on high speed contested lay ups. taking that away could cause a player to fall into the stands making someone spill their $5.00 soda and $4.00 popcorn. Plus the floor baskets offer the baseline camera person and floor sweeper something to lean on and rest against.

I noticed that the drawing has an open space behind the student sections and then a wall (and height increase) up to the "upper deck". It seems like that would raise the front row of the upper seats several feet. It's great to see corner seats in both the upper and lower levels also.
