I think Horstman can be an x-factor type, if he stays out of foul trouble most games, and commits to the D i think his offense will be fine. I think his ups and atheltic ablility will shine at times, even after he has had a back injury. Bittle on D will be great and taking his open shots on offense will be fine. I am worried about the ball being in Bromans hands to much to start. I would rather see him as a USDs Casey Kasperbuer roll for next year. Probably come off the bench, get open for 3s, launch um when he has um and play as tenacious of D as he can for the few mintues he is in at a time. I dont think Bromans should start or run the point.

I think Severyn could probably fill into the Chad white role right away. if anything a more athletic maybe not as good of a 3 pt shooter.

I think the challenge will be replacing JD, his size and shooting from 3 will be missed, always a tough match up. Not sure If anyone can create that sort of mismatch in our favor this year that JD could.

If i had to guess a starting lineup.
PG - Parks and the Marshall when he is eligible.
    SG - Bittle
    SF - Severyl
PF - Horstman unless Doyle, Duam or Theisen are ready to jump in the starting PF spot, then horstman at SF and Sevyrn off the bench
    C - Larsen

Broman and who knows who else would be first off the bench.
If Horstman is our starting PF we are in for a long year.

No argument with that statement here. He seems to be a 3 and very good at that.

So we would have a guard heavy rotation. wouldnt be the first time or the only school with that happen.

we would be what ever parks and marshall is for heighth, then 6'4, 6'5, 6'6 and 6"9. with a lot in the that 6'4-6'6 range on the bench besides counting on 3 freshman who have never played a game in college to step into the PF and to come in and fill that spot. Either way at the PW we would be in for a long year like i said unless one of the is acutally ready for that.

It's been several years since we have gone in to a season with so many question marks. I think/hope we can still be good ,but i also think it might be ugly early on.

I really have no idea what you are trying to say with this post. You may want to try proof-reading before you hit submit.

Oh yeah, early on will be rough. If we trust the coaches recruited good players like they have in the past, we have the players we need to be good again, just figuring out who goes where and working through the growing pains will be different from the last few years.

The Parks kid seems to have added some ball handling to his skill set this year. Last year he was primarily a shooter. He is currently 21 and he should be a bit more mature as a junior next year. He is still a scorer for the Iowa Lakes team, but it sounds like he is getting more rounded and he might be able to be a combo guard including point guard duties. This article may already have been viewed.. Here it is again. http://www.mlive.com/sports/flint/in...parks_doe.html He is listed between 6'1" and 6'3" depending on which article you read.

An article wrapping up Parks' 2014 season

                  http://www.iowalakes.edu/news__event...s&newsID=18289

                  From it:

When asked about Deondre, Head Coach Troy Larson had this to say, “Dre had an incredible career for us at Iowa Lakes. Most people will recognize his scoring, but he brought a toughness to our program. He competed every day and was a great leader.
“He bought into what we were trying to do and gave us his heart,” Larson added. “You can’t ask anything more of a player. He has been solid in the classroom and has really matured in his two years with us. South Dakota State is getting a good one in him.”

Dre Parks could be the next Chris White. Would that not be refreshing?

                      Re: Next year

The biggest question about this upcoming team for me is who is going to play the 4. Do you go small and start Hostman or have Devine step in and have have red-shirt freshmen or true freshman come in as backups. Our strength this year could be our problem this upcoming year. It's not like there is a lack of depth at the 4 and 5 positions but its just a lot of unproven young players.
It will definitely be a interesting year:

SDSU loses Dyksta, Carlson, White, and Heemstra
NDSU loses Braun, Borjklund, Wright, Felt, and Aaberg
IPFW loses Jacobo, Bland, Kibiloski, and possibly their head coach (rumor to Bowling Green).
                      Denver loses Udofia.
ORU loses Glover and haven't played in the Summit for a couple years
                      UNO loses Karhoff and Simmons.
USD has a new coach again and loses Gruis and Rowson.
                      WIU loses Link and Ochereobia.
IUPUI loses there head coach (could be a plus), Chiles, and Patten.

                              Re: Next year

I, for one, am cautiously optimistic for next year. Not for a dominant team that rolls to a regular season summit title, but for a team that finishes in the top 3 and has a decent chance in Sioux Falls to go to the Big Dance.

                              - Our guard/wing play will be solid. We havent seen Marshall play in an SDSU uniform, but when a guy plays almost 20 minutes as a freshman for a top 20 program in the country I have a hard time believing he wont be an impact Summit league player. Bittle is one of my favorite players to watch and will make a big jump in offensive production next year. Too many options for someone from the Broman, Parks, Severen, Flatten, Donlan, and Tellhuisington(sp?) group not to step up and play some quality minutes.

                              - Post - Larsen will be solid but really hope he takes another step next year. Would like to see him finish around the basket after usually making pretty solid moves to get a good look at the rim. I'm not worried about Devine. I really like what I saw from him in limited minutes this year and actually thought he should have got more time. I think he is a guy who will continue to develop in to his body each and every year. With that being said, I dont see him playing more than 20-25 minutes with conditioning/foul trouble. Soooooo.......the key for next year is getting 20-25 minutes a game from Daum, Theisen, or Doyle. Just looking at pictures and videos it seems Daum and Theisen have the physical size to potentially play right away. We dont need both to be ready but we do need one ready right away to have a chance next year. If one of these guys steps in and plays really well this team could be much better than people think.

I dont think people should expect a good start next year. New guys in new roles without a probable impact player in Marshall until January is likely to equal quite a few early season losses. Stick with this team though for another shot at the Big Dance.

I agree, TB. If Doyle, Thiesen or Baum come through with some quality minutes at the 4, the Jacks would seem to be in good shape. They'll be about big as this year's team in the post area and have more options at guard and the perimeter.
