  • Re: GDT: Mavs vs. Jackrabbits

There will only be 7 teams in the tourney this year (Omaha is not eligible). So, if my understanding is correct, only the No. 1 seed will get a bye, and the other six teams will play opening-round games, as usual. Next year, with Omaha and the return of Oral Roberts, there will be 9 eligible teams in the conference and the last-place finisher in the regular season will be left out of the tourney. That will be like SDSU's first year or two in the league, when there were 10 teams in the conference and two got left out of the tourney.

Someone asked in TV's chat last week and I believe he said they are eligible in 2015.

Maybe they got a waiver or something then. This is onLy their 2nd year in D1 though.

According to this, UNO is tourney eligible in 2015-2016.

I believe this is their 2nd year in the Summit but 3rd year of transition.

My thought is that if Jordan goes 1-9 from 3-point, White goes 0-5, and all of the other stats are about even then you are going to get beat. Again, I didn't see it but looking at the box score and then seeing the meltdown on here doesn't make much sense. Yeah, it's a disappointing loss but does it mean it's time to panic? I don't think so.

Normally my thought would be getting Jordan that many looks is in our favor. I'm not worries about Dykstra. He has been very steady and is one of the best in the conference. He will be ready Saturday. We have to have more production from White (1-7 FG, 0-5 3FG, 1-2FT, 3pts, 2 RB, 3TO, 3 STL, in 35 Min.) if we are going to be a contender. We are a completely different team when he is productive.

It sure looks like Brayden played a heck of a game. Really am surprised how well he has transitioned to PG. Having a phenomenal Senior Year.

Remember folks, it's all about the tourney in Sioux Falls. That is the only way to the NCAA. Like others have said, it would be huge to have a bye by being a 1 or 2 seed.

It might be the perfect time to play the Bison. These Jacks will be hungry. They need a huge, noisy crowd behind them. WE NEED TO DO OUR PART!!! LET'S GET THAT DONE!!!

Brayden is scoring but very few assists. If State had a true PG White would be coming off the bench (where he's more comfortable or at least has less pressure to score) and Brayden would play the 2 guard.

He's averaging 2.7 per game. About half of what Nate did last year. Leads the team but not huge in assists I agree.

Nagy commented that its impossible to get assists when the ball does not go through the cylinder.

I saw that quote. He was sticking up for Brayden.

Braydens playing great. He'd be even better with a good PG next to him.

There are going to be bumps in the road...especially after losing the best offensive player in the history of the school...when everything ran through him for the past 3 years. (and he rarely even sat out 2 minutes a half)

Losses are not what you are after...BUT, they can be necessary. When the Jackrabbits beat Iowa, Washington, New Mexico, etc, etc, etc... Nate had pretty huge games in all of those.

This team needs to find it's way. Way too early to hit the panic button.

Since there is only the game with bison, we will see if Coach Nagy can get some good practices for the game. The bison bring in a number of players who have good games against the Jackrabbits. Wright seems to have his best games and Bjorklund has lots of touches as well. Defense will be a need again this week. Hopefully we can get some focus on preparation for Saturday.

Correct. 1 seed will have a bye and play Monday. 2 and 7 will play Saturday at 2pm and 6pm. Sunday and Monday will have 2 men's and women's games. Tuesday will be the championship games.

Brayden is out of position this year. Based on the performance last Saturday I find it hard to be optimistic. Doesn't mean that won't change in a hurry with a win this Saturday. Fans can be fanatic, players and coaches should not be.

Saw a bracket projection for Sumitt tourney and they project SDSU will finish regular season with a 14-15 overall record. We a 2-2 in the league as of now. That would mean a 4-6 finish. 6-8 in conference play. Hope for better results, but based on what I have seen so far, this looks pretty accurate.

I watched the UNO vs Denver game last night. UNO looked over matched and nothing like the team that kicked the Jackrabbits butt. Of course, Denver actually made their wide open shots and moved the ball with precision and accuracy resulting in many easy baskets in the paint.

Another performance like the one last Saturday will not result in a good outcome at all.
