Easier said then done. We're only 3 games in,of course there's going to be talk about life after Nate. It's probably going to going all season, not just here but in the media.

That said, this team is battling several things right now: Getting new players some experience, trying to create shots without the benefit of Nate drawing most of the defensive attention. They also have to figure out how to play defense with the new rules that are in place. I thought Nate was a very good defensive player the last 2 years here but even he would struggle to not get in foul trouble with the new rules.

It's gonna take some time. I think by the time league play starts things will look a lot better.

The Jacks suffered some shooting problems(mostly the first half) last night. Broman 1-5, White 3-10, and Larson 3-9 had problems putting the ball in the cylinder. Broman is still a bit tight and was suffering some poor shooting as a result. Chad is streaky and that is the way it works for him. Larson is like a bull in the china store who is trying not to break things and he has not completely finished many shots down low. Better defense might help cover up some of these problems. Late in the first half the Griz started making successful drives to the lane putting points on the board and only shooting 10% from the 3 pt line. In the second half everything worked for the Griz. If the lane collapsed for the drive in the paint,, the kickout to the long shooter was made and they were hot. Our man to man defense and semi zone needs some tweaking since open shots were available for the Griz. We missed Jake Bittle on defense. It seems a short bench might be back this year although not as short as last year.

Agree on Cody. Once he smooths out the rough edges he'll be tough do deal with. Needs to improve his free throw shooting also because i think he'll be on the line a lot.

This team desperately needs a W, if for no other reason than a confidence boost.

With Nate done, and all the talk over the summer about what are they going to do with out him, then the preseason rankings come out and they drop to 3, coming off a championship, they had to have been questioning themselves all off-season. Now, starting off 0-3 and dropping the first home game and ending the streak, it's almost got to be getting into their heads.

Problem is, will a win monday vs a DII opponent be enough to break them out of the funk? Hopefully we'll defend a little better, because if SW MN. St. does the unthinkable....this could get ugly.

Good teams find a way to win games even when they aren't playing their best. It is early in season. However, if you aren't very concerned about the performances these 3 games then you must not have any or very limited expectations for success. I am extremely disappointed. Things had better improve and improve quickly. I will be in Frost for the tourney next week and expect the Jacks to go 2-0. Plenty of talent, need a lot more effort and intensity.
