Yes, those teams also include Chad Peters, Brad Peterson, and a few others that all played football at SDSU.

Kyle McKinley, a 6'10 post from Stillwater,MN who the Jacks recruited, is transferring from Albany NY to NE Community College in Nebraska according to MN recruiting expert Ryan James. Will be interesting to see if the Jacks show any interest. He would have two seasons of eligibility after next season in Nebraska.

Amazed how many MN Preps who feel the need to commit to far away mid-majors when much better opportunities exist much closer to home!

What's a roller coaster relationship McKinley had with Albany. The kid committed to them, then withdrew his commitment, the recommitted to them, only to transfer away from Albany after 1 year in which he redshirted.

So if he gets his JUCO degree after next year, he would have 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Appears so. I checked Albany's stats for this year and McKinley wasn't on them.

Also, McKinley doesn't have to get his associates degree next year in order to transfer to another program. Only academic non-qualifiers out of high school need to get their associate's degree to transfer to a D1, 4-year institution (D2, D3, NAIA does not require an associate's to transfer to from JuCo). If a kid was academically qualified out of high school, which McKinley apparently was since he was accepted into Albany, and chooses to go the JuCo route, he does not need to get his associates degree to transfer D1(though he still has to meet a certain standard of academic progress toward a degree).

Possible immediate impact redshirt freshman for the 2016-2017 season

Adam Dykman – South Dakota State


Jackrabbit fans should be seriously excited for this Nebraska native. Dykman did not see many offers out of high school but was named Mr. Basketball for the state of Nebraska in 2015 after averaging 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks a game his senior season. Several members of the Nebraska High School basketball community were confused that the 6’7″ forward did not see any offer from the three in-state Division 1 basketball programs.


In his redshirt season with the Jackrabbits, Dykman put on 12 pounds, and will be competing for minutes in a front court with a lack of depth at this point. He can post up as well as go outside and shoot from long range, as he shot 42% for his career on threes in high school. Summit League teams are not looking forward to matching up with Dykman and 6’9″ post Mike Daum for the next few years.


Cole Gentry – South Dakota State


After graduating three guards, the Jackrabbits will be looking for someone who can be their starting point guard under their new coaching staff. The team could be looking to Northern Illinois transfer Michael Orris, who started in 22 games as a junior for the Huskies, but Orris may not be the right guard for an up-tempo style that the Jackrabbits want to play, so the 5’10” Gentry could get the nod to run the team offense.

It would be great to have the freshman of the year again in 2017. One of the 2 Jackrabbits to beat out Geu at Fargo would be fantastic.
