Cold comfort. But yeah. Michigan is the real deal, when they put their minds to it.

There's some insight about the Jacks and (particularly) Wolters' defensive effort to be gained there.
Hurting??????????????? Its over we lost to a more talented team. Plus, they had some reserves that gave their starters a rest. As great as our guys are, we just ran out of gas. Be proud!! We just did not match up and even if we had and upset MU, do you think we would have taken VCU out? I dont think so. Your comments about Wolters defense are well taken though.

I think you missed (most of) my point. I agree 100% with your statement. Today's showing by Michigan gives us some perspective about how we played. UM is VERY GOOD and we faired better against them than a good VCU team did. Proud.

No one is questioning Nate's defense. If scouts were, they probably aren't any longer.

The point I was trying to make is that he struggled to get by defenders that would be considered average quickness at the NBA level. That is where his stock may have dropped. Were the skunkbears keying on him? Sure, but he still struggled. Some of you are saying he had an "off night". Well maybe, just maybe, Michigan's defenders forced him to have a bad night.

I think Nate is a 2nd rounder at this point.

Remember how difficult it is to make it and succeed in the NBA. Keith Benson ring a bell anyone?

Michigan was not going to let Nate beat them and they made sure he had no driving lines. When a defense can't focus on just you is and there are three point shooters around them than that is taylor made for a driver. However, Michigan was more worried about Nate beating them and letting the other players shoot. Keith Benson was/is too small to be a PF where Nate has prototypical size for a pg in the NBA. Can not compare the two. Even Gary Parish said scouts were more worried about his defense than his offense. If he finds the right system he could stay in the league for awhile.

C'mon now, people in the Summit and on this board were RAVING about Benson when he was in college. Just because that has played out does not allow you to go back and correct history to fit your side of the debate.

I love Nate and hope he has a long career in the NBA. I'm just trying to remain realistic.

I am guilty of reading into your post a bit. I think we are 95% in agreement. I never thought for a second that we could beat MU. Call me negative, but realistic. We just are not at the B10 level yet. So my hurting ended about the start of the second half. Reality set in at that point, and I returned to the tax return I was working on.

That not to say we are not the next Gonzaga, or even the FGCU who handled Georgetown. I beginning to understand this seeding business and I never majored in agronomy, but it was mentioned on the CBS radio that a 4 or 5 seed takes a 13 or 14 in an overwhelming number of games. I don't recall the exact percentage, but its huge.

I think ultimately Nate helped himself with the game in the eyes of scouts, as he played defense, he isn't going to play 40 minutes a game in the NBA (no one does), the offense isn't going to be built around him, (only 1 real offense is and that is Chicago's with Rose in the lineup). So I think where his NBA future is, is how he adapts to being more of a Luke Ridnour player then a Derrick Rose player. So his draft stock will depend on how he does in workouts, and his future will depend on how he performs in the summer leagues.

I think its hard to knock Keith Benson, I believe the NBA Lockout really hurt his chances, he went over seas was late coming back, got cut, was in the D-league for a while and then went back over seas, I think he then came back for the d-league for a while and has now gone back over seas.

Nate can play in the NBA, the question is, does he end up in the right situation.

Was Benson a good college player? Yes. I saw him his senior year and I heard people talking him up and I saw him and I was like no way he makes the league. He is too small to be a PF and too slow to be a SF. A tweener. That is the death of a college player in the league. Nate is not a tweener so he can't really be compared to benson

e drew one of the most talented teams in the tournament, and if they keep playing this way they will go very, very deep, maybe Final Four...

I always thought Benson didn't have enough heft on his bones to be more than a marginal NBA player. But again, I pay virtually no attention to the NBA, so all my NBA talent evaluations should be judged accordingly.

Exactly! I think I'm an ok talent evaluator for NBA. I thought johnny Flynn would flop in two years and curry would become a superstar. Seemed to do ok for the warriors. But as far as benson he was overhyped and was undersized.Sure nate didn't play a great game but he outplayed the national player of the year and he's getting critized. Smh. He shut down the player of the year.

Easy to look back and say you knew who all the busts were when they are all in the past. What exactly are your predictions for Nate? And none of this "if" and "but" stuff.

In the meantime, what is the proper etiquette now that we are out? Are we supposed to cheer for Meechigan?

I'll say that a team picks him up in the mid-late second round, so around the 50th pick. Then goes on to make the roster wherever it is, just too many positives about him to not take a chance towards the end of the 2nd round somebody will bite

I would love to see Nate drafted but I doubt he will. I think he will spend time in the D league until he can consistantly prove he can shoot. Nba range 3s. He has a lot of skills teams would love I think but I see teams taking chances on others before nate.
