No the mid majors are being shown their place tonight including SDSU and I dont mean San Diego State U either. We come a long ways from the 50 pt blow by SWMU on our own court and the loss to Morningside at Frost a few years back, but competing even with a youthful B-10 team takes some real doing. I am proud of our guys and its been one great season. Thanks to all the guys on the team. Be proud.

Wishful thinking tells me that a great post player like McGary would look good in a Jack uniform. Maybe he was sitting in the crowd tonight just like Bittle was last year.

So, same result in this game?

I'm excited for next year. We just lost the best player in school history....now is where we keep moving forward or fade back into oblivion. As much as it was on Nate and Tony to get us where we are today, it will be on Carlson, White, Dykstra and Heemstra to keep us moving in the right direction and carry the torch.White is who he is, 20points one night and 0 the next. I like what I've seen from Bittle the last few games, he plays unafraid, that is a beautiful thing. I think the person that needs to take the biggest step forward next year is Nagy. This is 2 straight years of being only 5 or 6 people deep. We lose 4 players next season, if we continue that short bench trend we are in deep sheet after next season. I get at our level we'll never go 10 deep, but we have to be able to develop our guys to go at least 8.

Yeah, that sort of thing could get an M for Mature rating pretty fast.

The other thing about developing a deeper rotation is that it allows you to go with a hot hand--or at least sit down a guy who's having an off night. If you're only 5 or 6 deep, you can't really do that--you're pretty much as good as your five starters are on any particular night.

Question - how would you guys have felt about SDSU having been one of the "First Four" play in teams? You are still considered a part of the NCAA tournament, but you are paired up against someone your own caliber which gives you a better chance at winning. I see there was a 13 vs 13 play in game this year. If you win, you can say you won a game in the NCAA tournament and you still get you shot at the #4 seed two nights later.

              Any thoughts?

I thought Nate played fantastic defense. Chad looked like he was terrified. Jordan started poorly but finished well. We had 4 players go all 40 minutes and one 32. That's tough to do when you're playing the caliber team Michigan is. We lost to a very good team.

If you don't win beyond that, WHO CARES? ALSO RAN'S!

Yes I think he often got open because of UM doubling up on Wolters. I think Nagy ran the same set several times in the first half and it worked but with half time, adjustments tend to be made.

Personally, I think the tournament should go to 96--give all conference champions a first-round bye, and have a three-game first weekend, making the at-large teams play two days in a row, then a one-day rest before the final game of the first round. You seed all of the conference champions 1-31 (1-32 when the Big East bifurcates into two conferences), and seed the at-large teams separately. Then you let the 1-64 at-large-game winner play the #32 conference champion, all the way down to the 32-33 at-large playing the #1 conference champion. You get a LOT more competitive games that way, and still preserve the underdog-trying-to-beat-the-big-guy flavor which makes the NCAA tournament so unique and special. And, you restore some meaning to actually winning a conference championship by rewarding teams that achieve that with first-round byes.

I rarely post, but i have read every post for years - tonight i had to voice this concern.

Tonight i am very proud of our team, the team as a whole worked hard all season long, but tonight the team as a whole did not lose this game. I feel terrible for the players who practiced all year long, yet were not able to play in this national tournament game. I feel terrible for the parents who traveled to watch those guys sit all game. Down 15, with 2 minutes to go, yet the coach wouldn't look down the bench. Those guys deserved to play, 2 minutes of recognition for their year of work is not too much to ask.

To go the distance, you might have to go a little farther down the bench....

Once again, this was a great season, looking forward to next year. Thank you seniors and all the team.

TV's a professional and would not lower himself to that. Come on. I'd expect something more along the lines of, "'Cocks get Jacked".

It was frustrating to watch our team miss a lot of shots in a loss to a top-10 team, but it can't be nearly as bad as what Akron fans are feeling right now. They suddenly lost three players in the last 24 hours and their big game was essentially over before it started (down 30-15 right now). Imagine how that would feel!

At times this year Heemstra would be the spark we needed to get going.

Why did he not even get take off his warm ups tonight? Odd, odd coaching decision.

fiegan was playing well and making shots, and nagy might of thought that dykstra's potential had to be on the floor ? but heemstra could have played easily I thought it was odd too

With 8 minutes to go in the first half, VCU had played all 12 guys. That has to be a coaches dream, hope we can get there some day.
