  • South Dakota State's Nate Wolters 53 points vs IPFW

This needs its own thread. When people are using google today to read about this colossal effort they need this forum as an option. Anybody that has links to video from the game or the highlights on Sportscenter post them here.

17-28 from the field, 9-14 on 3's, 8-14 on 2's and 10-11 at the FT line. 4 boards, 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. I wish I would have had the video feed.

Game vs OU is on 3 of the FCS stations on Saturday then Nate and the Jackrabbits are back home on Thursday and Saturday. I am going to make every effort to be there for both games.

USA Today had a cool (original) article today:

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...aylor/1901339/

    From the article:
"I didn't realize how many I had until after the game, it's tough to explain. I was definitely feeling it," Wolters said by phone late Thursday night. "The scoring came in such a barrage at the end. When I heard it was 53, I was like 'whoa.' "

"What happened tonight is the result of a lot of time in the gym for Nate, and sometimes kids get in a zone, they feel it, and it doesn't matter what they do, you can't stop them," South Dakota State coach Scott Nagy said after the game. "That was the case tonight, and Nate knew it, the players knew it, I knew it."

NBC Sports had an original article too:

    http://m.nbcsports.com/content/nate-...k-comeback-win

"Only five times since the 1997-1998 season has someone scored more point than Wolters did on Thursday night."

Wolters makes the front page of /r/collegebasketball on reddit. Very cool, major college basketball fans are taking note.

The clips I watched with this game must have had all the fans sitting behind the camera. They may have counted the band more than once. 1300+ in a smaller arena could have been at the conscession stand.

Most important comments on that. Supposedly, Nate scored 25pts in last 6 minutes and 13 in last 2.5 minutes. That is just insane.

A legendary performance by a truly great player.

Wonder in 20 years from now, how many people will claim to have watched the game online?

                  (I did not...because I didn't want to pay the $$ to IPFW).

Tyler (on TV's podcast) said that over the last 7:00 Wolters did not miss a shot and put up 25 points.

Here's the story from CBS sports:

                      http://www.cbssports.com/collegebask...-game-since-09

"I'm not happy, I'll be honest with you," Jackrabbits coach Scott Nagy said from the team bus afterward. He was agitated the team didn't show up and Nate carried the load, adding he'd never, ever seen a player so clearly carry his team to victory the way that Wolters did.
"We don't want to make a circus out of this," Nagy added. I talked with him as the team made its way by bus up to Oakland, where SDSU will play Saturday and has never won.

When the game was over, Wolters said he returned to his phone receiving more texts and missed calls than he'd ever gotten before -- including when the team made the NCAAs last year. He added that the arena was a tough environment because it was so empty. Nagy said he didn't think 500 people were in the place.

I've seen it as I have the TV app. Just wanted to provide it here for those that don't do blogs or apps. It is, of course, accessible via the Argus.
