    Re: IPFW - Lamb Bonanza

Luper draining it would be like Walthers draining it. That would be classless. The bench needs experience in scoring, we're not very deep.

      Well played Roy, Well played!!
Luper shot that three with more time left on the shot clock than on the game clock. I seem to recall Coach Fink trying to justify it by claiming that they "thought" the shot clock was running out.

The ORU women were no strangers to leaving the starters in to seal a 50+ point victory. At the same time, it is hard for players to turn the ball over at the end of a game to be politically correct. The coach is definitely the lightening rod for the impression and Coach Nagy did not want the perception of spiking the ball on the Mastodons. Players need to be players and coaches need to do their job which must be the politically correct spot.

The word for the weekend was "classless."

The word for today is "clueless."

The goal of the game is to put the ball in the basket. That's why it's called a "goal," yah?

I said about the Luper shot (and others) and I'll say here: if you don't want the other team to shoot a 3 at the end of the game, then don't give them the shot. Bitching about it after the fact--especially when it was an end-of-the-bench guy who almost never sees the court except in practice--is what is classless, as well as clueless.

          IMHO, of course.

                  Re: IPFW - Lamb Bonanza

I attended the game. Agree with statements that team and crowd were very flat 1st half.

2nd half was an impressive display of basketball.
                  Things I noticed:
                  1. Bittle is excellent defensively, and looks like he's going to be really good. (He's not going to be the next Nate..but who is?)
                  2. Heemstra is an excellent reserve big man.
                  3. Love the Tony F. is more of an offensive threat this year.
                  4. You could see Nate just figure out that #11 couldn't guard him, and then he went to town on a variety of moves. It was almost like a boxer, sort of figuring our what he could do...and then boom.
                  5. Horstman...really like what he brings to the table. Hope he keeps getting minutes as we'll need him next year.

I came away from this game thinking, we're probably going to still be ok this season, and actually feeling better about next year.

How many assists is Nate short of the record? 30?

The current number for Nate appears to be 573 with 97 this season in 17 games.

I remember Coach Fink yelling for his team to shoot it to beat the shot clock. He said that during the game and he said the same thing after the game. I don't agree with his leaving the starters in or running up the score but I think he was really confused on this one. A coach shouldn't be confused but I'll give him this one.

There is a big difference between a starter that already has 30 points in the game doing that or a bench player who only has 30 points on the season doing that, in my opinion. I don't just limit it to the starters but the players that play regularly. That is why I didn't really like it when Chloe did it a few weeks ago. Jessica or Anne are about the main female players that I like to see those type of shots. The exception would be if somebody has the ball and the shot clock is running out.

Maybe he went to Bob Knight's class on "Shot Clocks 101" (if you are puzzled on my remark it is in reference to a recent game Bob Knight announced at where he was confused about the time on the shot clock and game clock).

That puts him 33 of breaking the record as Norberg's record is 605. Barring any injury, Wolters should pass it with ease and could pass it in 5-6 games if he keeps his current pace up. Wolters is also #6 in steals and he has 27 steals currently this season and if he continues his pace of 1.7spg and if the Jacks don't play in a brackbusters and play up to Championship game without making tourney according to my math, Wolters would end up 229 steals, and the current record is 226. Please correct me if I am wrong in my math

Kevi Luper is averaging nearly 20 pts/game. ORU women are 6-8(3-1conference). Utah State women are 6-10 and 3-2 conference. Both will be competitive in conference. It was a big move for Fink to leave the talent he had at ORU. The WAC will send Denver to the Summit next year. Kevi Luper leaving the Summit allows more players like Megan Waytashek to garner player of the week-I think the thread is wandering.
