    Re: DSU

I would have been fine with a 31pt win with or without Wolters and Horstman and healthy Prince. Played a much much better second half.

I'm just relieved it was not a 10-point struggle (and I honestly would not have been too surprised if it was). This one started off that way and then they righted the ship. I was glad to see that and hope that tonight helped out the confidence of a few players.

I know what you mean. I was thinking 10-20 points going into the game. But Nagy and the players never let off the gas once they got going. Went hard until the end. That was nice to see cuz the black hills state game they didn't do that.

When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important than the name on the back.

Do we even have a bench to empty right now?

I think pregame the word was nine players available, and Nagy was talking about playing seven, so yeah, two guys at the end of the bench . . .

Prince clearly not healthy. Could hardly jog, let alone run or jump. Toe injuries worry me.

Joey Feilmeier was the last guy to play. Cory jacobsen was in the first half and much of the second half. He provided the early 3 pt shooting. Taevaunn played but he was a bit gimpy or tender in the feet. Add in marcus heemstra and that was the bench. It was good to see the offense of Tony tonight. There many others in the mix, but Tony was 8 of 9 from the field which was all inside of 10 ft, but that is where Tony plays. It was good to see the play did develop without the guy who usually is guiding the action 35-40 minutes of a normal game. It is hard for the fan to understand that Nate is the constant on the floor which the team has a dependency on his leadership for some time now.

Joey played 6 minutes but after that everybody played a lot of minutes. Prince played 16 minutes but I wonder if some of that was because he wasn't completely healthy. Heemstra played 18 minutes so he almost played half of the game. Other than that, everybody played at least half of the game. Jacobson played 23 minutes and it went up from there. It just seemed weird because SDSU played 9 players and DSU only played 8. At one point during the game you had two different sets of High School teammates guarding each other. The players from Brookings and Viborg were both match-up against their former teammates.

I don't take a ton from either this game or the Minnesota game. In the Minnesota game, we were playing a top 15 team in the nation without our best player and out 6th/7th man. We didn't even have time to try to get a game plan for them being out. This game was against a lower level team. We did look good against them but it's tough to figure out either way. I do like how this game gave everybody on the team some quality playing time. I'm just disappointed that Zach was injured because games like this give people confidence and his shot just hasn't been falling.

And all 9 Jacks scored. It was good to see that the Jacks kept the D going (only a 2 point difference by half for the Trojans). Further, there was some good ball movement by the Jacks. Two different quality squads on the floor in this game, and about what should have occurred, did.

DSU played the role of SDSU while SDSU played the role of the U of Minn in this game. A nice little bounce back game. Need to see that kind of assertiveness from Chad and Brayden every night. I also think we need Chad or Brayden or preferable both to shoot a lot better, especially 3's. Jordan could be a beast on the boards if Nagy can convince him it would be worth the effort.

Frankly I have wondered why jordan isn't our best rebounder. Him and tony should both be able to avg 7 or 8 rebounds agame no problem. Jordan should be a double double machine. They should hire griff as assistant coach just work with the team on rebounding, hustle, and having the heart to win.
