Anyone have any inside info on how the scrimmage went today?

    Austin Hansen tweeted this:

Typical 1st scrimmage. Always think team should b farther ahead of schedule. Responded well when we challenged them. Got better today!
Message for the youth: “Set your goals high and work for them, because if you set your goals where they should be, it’s going to require a lot of hard work. And even if you don’t achieve them, it shows longevity, and it shows commitment. And those are both things you need for the rest of your life,” Tony Fiegen

Also saw that one of the team claimed in a tweet to a friend that "we won"

          From TV's tweet:

I hear it went well. Shockers are big, physical and athletic. Good for SDSU to see that.

A little confused, fans seemed happy to be playing a decent team only to be shocked when word came out that they lost.

                Re: Wichita State Scrimmage

When I hear the word "scrimmage", to me it always sounds like players moving at 3/4 speed and coaches on both sides just trying to see what some of their schemes and all of their players can do. In short it's the only time there are no winners or losers. I think it was a great idea regardless of a "winner" in this case. As long as the guys got in some "real game" situations again and got a feel for it, that's all that matters.

                  I agree with Catrabbit's comments.

Here's a link to a blogger who suggests he may have been there or talked to someone who was.

If he has inside info, I am very pleased with Wolters referenced as an excellent shooter.

                      Re: Wichita State Scrimmage

It's a scrimmage. Everyone plays for both teams to work on things and it means nothing with who won. The team just needs to get better.

I'd be more interested to see how good Ron Baker was for Wichita. State offered him a little over a year ago and he decided to head there. Coaches really wanted him.

I am surprised that we even went near Kansas or Okla for recruiting, but we now have Bittle and came close on Ron Baker. Progress!!! I am for it.

It sounds like this was a good opportunity to work against some good (and physical) competition. We are going to need that, with tipoff against Alabama only a little more than two weeks away. AL returns 4 starters and will be a handful right out of the gate. I can't wait to see how that one plays out.

I am surprised they even kept score. State has had some of these in Brookings against DII teams, I seem to remember someone saying the DII teams won the scrimmage. Always makes me smirk. The underdog always has more to prove when a win means nothing more than bragging rights. Great experience for the program and the kids. Glad it happened.
