Matt Norlander for CBSSports writes about Nate Wolters leading the Jackrabbits to the top of the Summit in his Summit League preview posted this morning:

...Among the nine programs, South Dakota State is the league favorite by way of having the league's best player in Nate Wolters, the No. 71 guy on our list of top 100 players in college basketball. Wolters, who I think is top-40, is a do-it-all guard who can play three positions at this level but is probably suited best as a shoot-first point guard. The Jackrabbits are more than him, though. In fact, what's surprising about the team is how good it is despite the fact Wolters and 6-7 forward Tony Fiegen are the team's only seniors. And SDSU only loses one senior from last season. Scott Nagy's team had to good fortune of getting the league tournament on their stomping grounds (some league coaches believe that's why they ended up going to the NCAAs instead of ORU or Oakland), and that'll be the case again this season...

Matt had an "oops" in the first draft posted...referred to NDSU as a school without a nickname...but he quickly corrected so that reference is gone. Pretty funny, though, given the intense love relationship between the UND Whioux and NDSU.

It's kind of humorous that people believe that ORU and Oakland lost out on going to the Big Dance because the tourney was in Sioux Falls since Western Illinois and Southern Utah eliminated them, not the Jacks.

So is Matt Norlander like the de facto Jacks beat writer for CBS Sports because he is the self-appointed President of the the Nate Wolters Fan Club? Lol

I also believe that we were the #2 team going into the Tourney - both in terms of conference record and RPI - and we beat ORU by 15 on Feb. 2nd that last time the two teams went head to head before the Summit League Tourney. We did not win because the Summit Tournament was in SF

Can we place bets on which coach in the league provided the comments in that section of the article?

It will be interesting to see how NDSU is this year. Last year they played some games in Canada so they were able to practice and play before the rest of the conference. They started out winning a lot of games but then everyone caught up to them and then they were just average by the end of the year. I just did not think they improved as the year went along and may have regressed toward the end.

In Nov. there record was 6 - 0

            Dec. there record was 4 - 3

            Jan. there record was 4 - 4

            Feb. there record was 3 - 5

            March there record was 0 - 2

Good breakdown. There did not seem to be much for stability at NDSU last year. When things started to get tough they really unraveled (as their monthly record shows). Part of that might have been due to age and inexperience. Part of it might be due to personality.
