  • Jacks at Minnesota

Hey all! I'm an SDSU student and my friends and I are planning on traveling to the December 4th Game at Minnesota. We've never traveled for an away game and I have a couple questions. Will the SDSU ticket office be selling tickets for this game so all the Jacks fans/students will be together? If not, is there a section in Williams arena we should look at buying that would put us around the other Jacks fans? Thanks in advance for your help!

You can check with the SDSU ticket off but I'm pretty sure it will not be selling tickets...you'll have to purchase the tickets from U of Mn. Mn will have a "visitor's section". This game typically has some available tickets.
    I'm predicting a Jackrabbit win this year...margin of 10+

Go to Gopherhole.com to their ticket exchange. You should be able to get some cheaper tickets that way to save some cash. There will be parking all around Williams Arena. Head to Sally's or Stub and Herb's prior to the game for food and beer.

Watch for the Alumni Association's announcements about pre-game gathering for SDSU fans.

I have gone to several games. There is a hotel right down on campus by the arena, it isn't really nice but it sure is convenient. Just get your tickets from gopherhole or stub hub, SDSU won't have a section. Stub and Herbs is great, Sally's is as well. You gotta check them out. There is a brand new Wild Wings down by the arena, its in a neat building. Its a great time, enjoy.

Alright, I'm going. I've had too much fun in the past to let work keep me away. Blarney's is not far from Williams arena and they have a bus. Just signed up for the alumni event and booked 2 nights at the University Inn right on campus. Arrive Monday the 3rd after work, enjoy the day on campus Tuesday, rub shoulders with some alums and head to Williams arena to watch Nate Wolters lead the Jackrabbits to victory!!

Will need to get tickets as the date gets closer. If need be you can always scalp them right outside and usually get a very fair price.

Anybody else going to make a weekend of it for the two women's games up in the cities?

Love your optimism, but this is going to be one of Tubby's better Gopher teams. They return virtually everything from last year, including an experienced backcourt and one of the better front lines that you will see in the Big Ten and even nationally. Rodney Williams is extremely athletic and is now tough on both ends of the court. Trevor Mbakwe is a beast, despite his rash of injuries. On top of it all, Tubby has more depth due to a string of injuries the last couple of years.I hope to make it up to Williams Arena again, but I'm not going in expecting a beat down like we did to Washington.

I agree. It will take an Washington-like effort from Nate and solid play from the rest of the team to be able to beat the Gophers this year. It isn't impossible, but they are going to better than us at every position except 1. We will need to shoot the 3 often and well.

The biggest problem with the Gophers is their bigs. This is one game we will miss Griff badly. His toughness and backside defense were pretty huge in keeping the gopher bigs somewhat in check.

The big question mark is how many minutes Mbakwe will be playing by then and how effective he will be. I read that Tubby said if the season started today he would be coming off the bench, but things can change in two months.

The degree of difficulty for the Jacks game at Williams Arena may change today as Trevor Mbakwe has a probation violation hearing in Florida this morning. Mbakwe received a DUI in July (which just became public about a week ago),which is a violation of probation for acts previously commited in Florida. There is speculation the judge could hand out some jail time because of this. If any jail time is involved (even for a limited time),it would force Tubby to decide if Mbakwe deserves to remain on the team.

If Tubby had any cojones,Mbakwe would already be off the team.
