Rod Flowers looks like the man for the Tigers . . . 6'9" center, averaging a double-double.

Very excited that their 3Pt shooting % is low!   I posted this once before somewhere else, but look at their schedule. The two games before us were Arkansas, Alabama, and the two after us are Iowa State, Louisville. 8)

Here is a link to their web site:

This is not the first time we have played the Tigers.  They came to the Barn in 1956 Dec, SDSU won, but Richard Barnett who went to a NBA career mostly with the Lakers had 40 pts. I was at that game. Barnett sank every thing that went up.  Elsewhere I have learned that Tennessee State then called Tennessee A & I won the NAIA championship in 1956 or 57.

Hopefully we can keep the winning streak going this time around.

          Re: Tennessee State

I think a good showing tonight is critical for this years team. I know Nagy said he isn't interested in moral victories but I guaruntee these kids are. They don't want to be embarassed anymore.

I think the key will be defending their big man without allowing the outside shooters to get hot. Not an easy task but doable. I think a combination of Beran, Loney and small doses of DeJong (don't throw him the ball), should be able to contain the Flowers kid.

As far as offense, we need to get of the shnyde early and hit some outside shots. It would be nice if we good push the ball but we don't have the talent. I'd like to see Nagy run more of a motion offense and see how that works out.

Good luck Jacks, I'll be listening. A win would sure be a nice Christmas gift.

              Re: Tennessee State

What I've listened to hasn't been good. Flowers having his way, guards not handling the ball, missing free throws. End result, Jacks trail 65-53 with 7:30 to play. hopefully we can close the gap a little.

                Re: Tennessee State

70-60, 5:30 to go. Getting some offense at least, sounded from the pre-game like Nagy was turning the guards loose to shoot a bit more. Worked in the first half, but haven't been able to find the 3 point shot much in the second half. Still, the first time in a long time that there's been much real life on the offensive side of the ball. 5:06 to go now, 70-62. Hit a couple of those 3's, play some good defense, and we're right back in it.
