I think the reason wrestling is generally cut at schools is because its hard to be good at, and its even harder to make money at. If wrestling was making money at all the schools that cut it, I'm pretty sure they would find some way to keep it

And because it's essentially a regional sport, and it doesn't draw huge numbers of fans, and yes, because Title IX causes athletic programs to look for non-revenue, men's-only sports to trim when budget time comes around.
