  • 2013 Conference Schedule

    http://www.thesummitleague.org//pdf8/796765.pdf

Check out the link for next year's conference schedule. A couple interesting things stood out to me:

    - Most would agree that the 2 best places to play road games during Christmas break are NDSU and USD. Guess where we play over Christmas break....

    - We get NDSU (at home) on a Saturday night, but USD and OU are both on Thursdays.

    - 3 of the first 4 games are on the road, including the trips to NDSU and USD mentioned above - a fast start would go a long way.

    - 4 out of the final 6 games (including Bracket Buster) will be on the road.

It is interesting that they left USD and UMKC as travel partners instead of make USD and UNO partners.

I have a feeling that the travel partners will change sooner or later.

As far as a schedule, in terms of drawing attendance I'd say its a winner, don't have the holiday schedule in front of me but to not have a conference home game over break is a a pretty big deal. however winning will be the big thing, because at the end of the day people show up to watch good teams.

As much as we think we will watch any team, we will more than likely show up for a team that has won 20 wins compared to 7 wins. Its just the norm and yes winners breed audiences. Just the way it works.

I'm guessing they didn't want to put one team at an advantage/disadvantage by having no partner. UNO can fill that role for a few years because they can't qualify for the tourney anyway.
