No content with progress, I not a demanding and impatient BISON FOOTBALL FAN like you and your green and gold john Deere ilk. BTW, we have not lost the first round game yet this year. So there you go.

      Re: Another 20-win season...

I completely agree with Jacks-02. Of course I want the Jacks to win the tourney but I would actually be very happy with 20+ wins and an appearance in the Championship game. I think those 2 benchmarks are appropriate goals going forward. ORU and Oakland might look at things a little differently, but look at their history. We're not there yet. Winning the tourney is (obviously) big-time icing on the cake but I just am not at the point where that is the only thing that matters. There are some good teams in this league and expecting to win that tournament every year is asking a lot.

Now, winning 20+ and getting knocked out in the first or 2nd round would sting a little. There's no taking away the progress that has been made this year, however.

20 wins is nice, but definitely want to see Jacks playing post-season this year. Suspect that 20 wins (and lose the rest ***Shivers***), would possibly get Jacks a CBI invite. An NIT invite is likely going to need about a 23/24-8 record. Would really like to get a NIT invite if don't get Tourney champ. Remember, NIT is similar to WNIT that early rounds are played at a court of one of the home teams. And there may be a bid opportunity to host at Frost.

Actually, your first post in this thread was in fact quite smacky--at least in the way you phrased it, regardless of what you may have intended.

Pretty tough talk from a fan of a team that finished in the bottom half of the conference the last two seasons... I guess the fans will just need to be a little more demanding.

Please tell us more about how little it means to win 20 games.

It means NOTHING to anybody if you dont advance period. What great trophy or success do you see by having 20+ wins if you lose in the tournament??? Nobody has answered that except throw stones at me. Yes fine you won 20 games congrats in 2007-2008 we had 21 wins with a win on the road against #9 Marquette what did that get us??? NOTHING, in 200-2009 we had 20+ wins and won the SL went to the dance and got beat int he first round that to really got us nothing but the fun of getting there and luckily enough we drew Minneapolis so 15k fans got to watch and it was on CBS, we got more attention for making the tourny our first year eligible than anything else

some of you need a thicker skin geesh........

Maybe if you had thicker skin the "stones" wouldn't hurt?

But seriously, I haven't seen one person say that 20 wins means anything other than it shows our team is improving. So I'm not sure how nobody has answered you?

                  Geesh, indeed.

I note that it took tjbison four posts before even attempting a cogent argument against the significance of 20 wins in a season. And in prying this grudging and unwilling argument out of him, we are somehow thin-skinned.

                    Uh-huh.

It seems that he believes that unless you win a championship, athletics is a waste of time. This strikes me as a particularly dark, depressing and unrealistic view, but I guess at least we know where he's coming from.

I'll disagree for a couple of reasons:

Making the Dance in the first year of eligibility is definitely something to write home to mother about. Grandma and grandpa even if they are still alive. It's a big freaking deal to do it any year, even bigger in the first year eligible.

Also, they didn't get their asses kicked. They lost by 10. To freaking KANSAS! Also, I'm not sure if you watched the game at all but I did. Ben Woodside was the best player on that floor that day. Look at the box score. Gross. And he had little to no help on the offensive end.

That is a team to hang your hat on, write home to mother, create monuments, etc.

NDSU didn't get the arse kicked, they lost 84-74 and were down by only 6 points w/ 2:25 left.

                          Re: Another 20-win season...

I think the bigger thing is 19 wins followed by 20 wins. That is a big thing. Any team can have a 1 year, senior laden team, knock off 25 wins and win the conference tournament. That is good and everything, but developing a program that is in the high teens/low twenties year in and year out is something to be proud about. Winning the tournament is good, but look at the league, NDSU is good, Oakland is good, IUPUI might be a 7th or 8th seed with a guy who is projected to be a 1st round NBA draft pick by some. SUU's and WIU's style makes them a tough matchup for many. I guess I look at it and yes SDSU fans want to win the conference tourney, but don't say that if a good IUPUI team knocks them off first round is a bad thing, or if a solid NDSU team knocks them off in the second or if a really good Oral Roberts team knocks them off in the finals that the season is a failure.

As far as losses I look at 5 losses, UND, USD, Oakland, Nebraska and Georgia. 3 of those SDSU was leading early, 2 of them they didn't show up. You win those 5 games and SDSU is in serious contention for an at-large bid. But if ifs and buts could only write checks I'd be very rich.

Really how many top 25 MENS bball teams have the Jacks beat? You might want to go back and look at the stats from that game to see really how the game played out.

you all can smack me all you want your BBall team or Football team has accomplished nothing we already havent.
