    Re: Suu gdt

Pretty sure we got the wrong NDSU score during the update given by the PA in the 2nd half...the crowd cheered the Bison being up by a few points (was it 68-63?), but the ESPN recap says the Bison never led the game after midway through the first half.

      Re: Suu gdt

We were sitting above the SUU bench and it was pretty funny watching how frustrated they were getting with trying to guard Nate. Number 25 from SUU was getting chewed out after nate scored on him again and SUU was coming back on offence in the seond half. 25 just turned to the bench and said what do you want me to do? We may have gave their coaching staff a hard time about that to add to the frustration, but the next time out 25 really got a chewen. I don't know of anybody in the summit league that could have guarded nate last night when his short to mid range jumper was falling. All he needed to do was get between ten and 20 ft grom the hoop and it was going in. It was a good game to watch nate take over, If we would have made some open looks early it would have been a blow out, but at least it was a W.

I heard some of the post game comments plus the entire game on the radio. Coach Nagy said this win was bigger than the ORU win and its the strategy that the opponent tried to make work but failed in the end. Mainly slow down bb, taking near 20 seconds off the clock with each SUU possession. He went on to say, that SUU knew they could not run with the rabbit so this what they tried and it did not work. Its a credit to our guys hanging in there to the end and winning by 10.

I expect WIU will be doing the same when they come to Forst. They seem to have this a little more down pat and that will be a problem for the Jacks. I do not think the guys had a let down after the big ORU win. They did what they needed to do.

Suu plays a zone a lot right. Doesn't western ill play man or am I mistaken.

What I see similar is the offensive strategy of taking time off the clock. You may very well be correct about the defense schemes. These two teams have avoided trying to match our running offense. Thats what I was referring to.

I wasn't going to sipute that. I think your totally right. I do think the D that we will face will give us as much of a problem as it is the pace they will try to play it at. Slow the pace is one thing but make it hard to shhot the 3 and it will be close. It we shoot well I have no doubt we can win comfortably.

Two starters fouled out and about 3 more had 4 fouls at the end, and those were all good calls except maybe for the offensive fall called towards the end of the game. Coach Reid had questioned that but it might have been out of frustation of loosing a key player with 8 minutes to go. No doubt SUUy must have been on Carlson and Griffin a lot since these two have been knocking down the the threes in the previous game and open up a number of games. It cost them in terms of fouls.

Western Ill will really take the air out of the ball when they visit Frost. Their offense in terms of points is LAST (64pts) in the league. Their defense in terms of points leads the league in giving up only 60 points per game. The key to playing a S. Utah or Western is get the lead and make them play your style of game. If you let them hang around and slow things down they can be dangerous. We seem to get a little frustrated when teams slow it down on us. We need to get used to that as it will certainly happen at the conference tournament.

A good start to the game vs Western and we will be fine. However, we need to focus on USD and UMKC right now. USD is playing better and I don't think we seen the best of UMKC when they visited Frost Arena.

SUU plays a difficult style. Tyler mentioned on the radio something along the lines that only 3 other DI teams had won games with less than 3 3's or something like that. And SUU had done it 5 times.

Both Griff and Nagy talked about how they run their sets very patiently, taking 25-30 seconds each possession.

Good to get the win. A ten point win against a team like that is similar to a 20 point win against a more uptempo team.

Good to see the guys battle through after the ORU game. This type of game could have spelled trouble, but didn't.

Just to catch up, Washington now leads Pac 12 by a game after this weekend. Which should help RPI.

If the PAC-12 was worth a darn it would really help.... It hurts that they don't have a ranked team.... But yes, the more they win the more it helps RPI.

I look at the Jacks and I see 3 games that really hurt RPI.... The Oakland game, the UND game, and if they could have beat Nebraska or Georgia and they could have one heck of an RPI.
