  • Re: Naters Gonna Nate

I've got a buddy who grew up in Osh Kosh and is a huge Bucks fan.

He's been asking me about Wolters, I think I've got him super excited. I had to tell him that I'm a giant homer of course.

This was encouraging to read, the situation does seem really good for Nate

Wow, that was fun to read. I hope it plays out this way. I really believe that Wolters given playing time will find his way in the league. It sounds like he landed in just the type of situation that could allow him a fair shot at showing he can play.

This is the reason the mods say name your source.

Are you and ekn buddies? Just trying to stir the pot. Seriously there was so much stuff going on with the Nate Wolters draft, that it was hard for anyone to keep up. Rumors??? yeah a bunch of them. Its beyond me why this one body is traded like some slave was about 1850 in New Orleans. The NBA is all about money. I am happy for Nate, so don't get me wrong, but the guy does deserve some dignity. All the USD fans are poo-pooing the Milwaukee Bucks as a franchise and some how Nate career will be short lived. If his health holds up and no injuries I can see Nate playing 10 years from now and a very wealthy man. He should top Tom Black's salary of $30,000, which went a long ways in the 1970s.

                    Really Nidaros? Really?

Nate is about to sign an NBA contract that will pay him more than many dream about making and you are comparing it to 1850's slavery?

Guys - keep the focus on the great Naters gonna Nate. This position is one where Nate has a SUPER SHOT at being a part-time starter, or a significant minutes off bench (6th to 8th) player HIS ROOKIE YEAR. Nate, like Colton Iverson, will bring a mature, analytical, smart game to the Bucks. Does he have the "Upside growth" potential, like his fellow Bucks draftee?, Unlikely. But, I would contend he doesn't need to, because he's at a good, if not great level already. If, through his play in summer league, then during the season, he directly addresses the questions about his ability to defend, and he becomes that great distributing guard in the NBA that he demonstrated at SDSU, we will be talking about Nate in the mode of another John Stockton, especially if he can demonstrate the durability over a long career.

I'm excited about having a SDSU player in NBA. The situation at the Bucks is danged close to being an ideal situation for Nate. I expect that he'll succeed and become the new symbol of modest and easy going, in contrast to the flamboyancy that marks too many of the "stars" or "wanna be stars".

Yes he will sign a generous contract, but the horse trading that went on kind of made me think of what I have read about human slavery. Nate is not a horse, but a human. The expectations will be high for him and hopefully his dreams will materialize. I too am excited about an SDSU player making a mark in the NBA. The NBA draft is like watching sausage being made. This is the first time, I have ever paid this much attention. A messy process though necessary. Isn't capitalism wonderful?

No worse than companies being bought and sold, and jobs lost as the result. Its the control part that bothers me, but who am I to question.

Yes it is! It isn't perfect, but it is the best system going. IMO

It's not like he moved into an apartment only to have the team cut him or trade him. It happened in a span of less than an hour so it's pretty much just whatever to me. Milwaukee offered Richard Ledo who was a top 10 high school last year but didn't play at Providence his freshman because he was a partial qualifier and a second round pick for Nate Wolters. That is why the trade from Sixers to Bucks happened.
