USD, SDSU Work Together To Rework 2011-12 Hoops Slates

VERMILLION — Athletic directors at the state’s two Division I schools came together in an attempt to ensure that student support would be a key feature of the renewed basketball rivalry next season.
And following a discussion with the Summit League commissioner, both the University of South Dakota and South Dakota State came to an agreement to rework their 2011-12 basketball matchups so that the long-awaited games would not take place during the holiday break for each school’s students.
USD athletic director David Sayler confirmed Monday that the changes to the schedules — moving the weekend series from December 2011 to mid-February 2012 — was based on the desire to have students at each game in Brookings and Vermillion.
