LOL. I feel like most people really dig his style, and for whatever reason I never really noticed just how over-the-top he is while I was a student. But this year I've had a different perspective and agree that it is just too much! I haven't brought it up to my Oakland friends because I feel like no one would agree, but maybe so now that I read this. The worst is that now that I am out of town and have to watch the stream with the radio guys, their microphones are not very good at noise canceling so the whole time the PA guy is louder than the dudes doing the broadcast (something I am sure some of you experienced today if you watched online or streamed the radio).

Everyone I talked to from OU who hadn't seen him loved Mr. Wolters. It was a great game.

      Thanks, hoopsdude.
I think there are some risks of adverse consequences when a PA announcer becomes a cheerleader, the most significant of which is the crowd starts taking cues from the announcer and spontinaeity is lost...if the announcer doesn't say anything, the crowd will just sit there. Visitors will think they've entered a high-school environment. Go to a venue of a team that isn't "your" team but has one of those announcers who thinks he's the show and you'll see/hear what I mean (best example around here is NDSU's football PA announcer - really hurts what can be an outstanding home-field advantage and a fun place for opponents to play).

While we're on announcers... the Oakland guys were pretty good from when I could hear them.

Very Complimentary of Wolters and Dykstra... they were pretty solid.

There really has to be a PA guy between Frost and the O-rena.
