We have a lot of hard games left on the road to finish the year so I just don't see us beating those teams on the road that we lost to at home.

    I wish I could be a more half full kind of glass, its just not there yet.

    I think im finally with you. Id say 9-9 looks about the tops. All teams go through a game like this where nothing falls in. Did anyone watch West Virginia against Louisville on Wed night when West Virginia didnt score a fg for 13 minutes? Its happens. I guess we should be happy it wasnt Oakland or Oral Roberts we were playing or it would have been really ugly looking

      It is probable because we have cheerleaders that do not know how to lead cheers.

        Its a tough game to watch when our guys are playing good defense, and the ball just did not go in on so many easy shots. Like coach said the defense was good but not great and shoting 33 pct does not win games. No question a winnable game with a higher fg pct.

          I don't blame him for calling them out. The students were pathetic again last night.

            In fact, they were so bad, I, a 30 year old man, thought about budging my way down into the first row at the 50 yd line to show them how you cheer for your time.

            I wonder why they even bother standing. They just as well sit down and fall asleep, as into the game as they are.

              UMKC has sort of been a doormat team in the league the last few years, but that is not the case this year. They are 13-8 overall and 6-4 in league for 4th place. They are not unlike our playoff football team. A very veteran club with a chip on their shoulder trying to get respect.

              Maybe that's making excuses, but expecting to blow anyone out in a DI league is pure fantasy, IMO.

                Wow, why did I think they were 2-7 coming into the game? I coulda swore I read/heard that from more than one source... How the heck did they beat IUPUI?

                  I think they were 2-6 on the road.

                  Now 3-6.

                    Re: UMKC @ Frost GDT

                    If they want people to show up and make noise, play worth a damn at home.

                    I think Sargent is shooting about 20% in games I have attended this year. I can't even believe it's possible when I see stat lines that he has 20+ points on better than 45% shooting. Awful, awful shooting. Wide open shots and he flat out can't make them and then he makes one shot to get it within one with a guy in his face.

                    Why, why do they need to shoot 24 threes in a game when they actually have a size advantage for once? I don't even know if they know how to play with a size advantage. Wolters, Sargent and Dykstra all could have posted up many times and had an advantage. Instead, they just keep gunnin' from deep. Wolters had a wide open lane when they were down 2 with 30 seconds to play and instead he gives it up to Sargent, who was no way in hell making 2 straight shots last night, to throw up another 3.

                    Once again, if you want a better crowd, don't go 2-4 in the conference AT HOME! The team 2 years ago wasn't nearly as talented as this one and lost 1 home conference game and couldn't buy a win on the road. They've beaten IPFW and freekin' Centenary at home...that's it.

                    I'm bitter. Not the way I was expecting that one to go, so it stings.

                      We didn't make enough shots lost night, end of story. We missed insides, outside, open and contested shots. Sometimes it happens and usually you lose.

                      I was waiting for Nate to throw the team on his back and pull this one out, just didn't happen. Need to bounce back and throttle SUU tomorrow.

                        Re: UMKC @ Frost GDT

                        The upside potential of this team is that it upsets Oakland in the SL tournament and goes to the Dance.

                        The downside is that it stumbles to a .500 finish in the conference. I see that as about the floor--too much raw talent to fall much further than that, IMHO.

                        And actually, the upside and the downside are not mutually incompatible. This team could lay an egg the rest of the regular season and play out of their minds in the tournament. Who knows? The coaches certainly don't!

                        Such is fate with a team that starts more freshmen and sophomores than juniors and seniors. The Jacks are, realistically, one year away from being a really good team, and two years away from being a scary good team. (Assuming that Nagy finds a competent big man to take up space, rebound, and take some of the pressure off of Djykstra to let him do what he can do.)

                        It really, really stings, but you have to take the bad with the good, unfortunately. We should not have lost to UMKC. They didn't play particularly well, either, but I think this was one of those games where experience was the edge.

                        UMKC started Senior, Senior, Junior, Junior, Freshman, and off the bench seeing significant (over 5 minutes were Senior, Senior, Sophomore. That's four Seniors, two Juniors (six upperclassmen), one sophomore, one freshman, eight-deep total. SDSU started Senior, Senior, Junior, Sophomore, Freshman, and off the bench comes Freshman, Freshman, Freshman. That's four upperclassmen (all starting) and five lowerclassmen--nine total.

                        What that means is that when you go to your bench your experience level drops significantly--especially compared to UMKC.

                        Experience matters.

                        We're all tired of having a "young team," and a couple of years from now, we'll have a team full of upperclassmen with no more excuses. But until then, it's a truism of sports that young teams are inconsistent--looking great one night and awful the next. That's what we've seen, the past two games.

                          IPFW = Great Shooting Game
                          UMKC = Bad Shooting Game

                          That is the bottom line.

                          The positive spin I'm going to put on it is this....the great equated to a 35 point win, the bad a 5 point loss. That's a whole lot better than a 5 point win on a great night and a 35 point loss on a bad night. It shows we are a pretty good team on a normal night. We have to take it to the next level and figure out another aspect of our game so we can compensate for the bad shooting nights.

                            All of this is true. However, it really is a bad loss to a team I think we should beat even when we shoot poorly. This loss may loom very large at the end of the season. No doubt inexperience played a role. As I said before, it's over now time to move on and get a win tomorrow.

                              The more I think about it the more it brings up painful memories of the transition. The men could be up, clearly in control and still find a way to lose. Not sure why but this team is starting to look more like those teams even though the talent level is better now. Finding ways to play consistantly is going to do this team wonders. It will be a roller coaster untill this team figures that out.

                                unless we get 8th seed, is it really going to matter which seed we end up with. there isnt going to be an easy game whether we are 2nd or 7th. I'll be happy with a 2nd,3rd, 6th or 7th. Just keep us away from Oakland until the finals. (of course we need to win 2 games to get to that point)
