    Re: Central Michigan

CMU drives for 2. Wolters hits a 3 at buzzer.

72-69 game over. Watching replay to make sure there is no time left right now.

Needed that win - Use it as momentum for Thursday.

Wolters with a dagger at the buzzer. He makes a three from about 5 foot behind the line with a guy in his face to win the game 72-69!

          Never a doubt!!!!!!!!!!!
When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important than the name on the back.

Much nicer to be 8-3 going to Tubby's Place than 7-4 . . . 8-3 makes you dangerous. 7-4 makes you ok.

A few thoughts from the Michigan roadtrip.....

              1) Never give up when you get down by a large margin, because you just never know what will happen (saw big comebacks 2 games in a row).

              2) Also.....when a team is down and does make a run, just weather the storm defensively and don't get caught up in their frenzy. Ultimately, more times than not, the amount of energy expended making that run will catch up to them.....also saw that 2 games in a row.

              3) Our lack of inside presence is concerning....during their comeback they took it right at us with no fear whatsoever.

              4) Continuing that thought....we better be hot from outside against the Gophers because they will eat us alive from inside with their bigs. I hope we are working on a zone d and are going to challenge them to out jump shoot us.

              5) Did anyone else get a sinking feeling when Nate went down holding his ankle?

......all in all a good win, very happy with 8-3.......

Glad to see we got the win. Even though this team has many of the problems, from teams gone by, mainly not holding big leads and having to dig out of a big hole. However this team seems more assured it knows what its doing come time. The womens team use too now they disapear at the end, while the men, keep fighting and seems everyone does something that helps set up wolters. Would like to seem more even shot distrebution(SP). I like the points and FG percentages a lot but what if wolters or sargent have an off night, we need to have that extra guy who can step up when one of them is off. great to win after a tough loss, that says a lot about these guys.

Listened to the game and was so pumped at the end that I agreed to go shopping!

Every team we play will be on Wolters and yet the guy gets the job done anyway.

That was a nice win for you on the road. I have to compliment your team. I have not seen any team come in here and hit so many shots from almost anywhere on the court and from any distance. And it was not just one guy. It looked like everyone was hitting almost everything they put up. Everyone around me was saying the same thing - do these guys ever miss? I have not checked the stats but your shooting percentage must have been 50% or higher.

It's just another close loss for CMU. We have had a bunch of them this season and it's getting old. We are now 2-9 and going nowhere. I think we have now locked in a losing season which means it is going to be painful from here on out.

In any event, nice win and all the best for the rest of the season. You have a solid team. If you can keep shooting like you did tonight you are going to win a lot of games this season.

Teams from years past would have lost this game. Teams from years past didn't have players like Dykstra and Wolters on the court at the end of the game.

I think this team will live and die, for better or worse, with Wolters and Sargent. If we get good effort on defense and rebounding night in and night out, then if those two guys are on, we will be tough to beat. If one is on and the other is not, and if we get production from somewhere else (White, Dykstra) then we'll be competitive. If both of the guards have an off night, we'll be in trouble unless somebody else is going off for 30 (which White, Dykstra, and perhaps Callahan have the ability to do).

This is a generally young team that has some pretty good talent on it. It will take a while for SDSU fans to get used to that concept (an SDSU men's basketball team with average- to above-average talent on the court, that is). But young talent is usually erratic talent.

This is a team that could, possibly, beat the Gophers in Williams Arena. It won't be easy, (and would obviously be a HUGE upset) but there's enough talent on this team to provide some match-up problems for the Gophers.

You can't win the game if you don't play the game. Let's do it!

A paraphrase of what our coach said on the radio post-game interview: It was hard looking into the eyes of the guys in the handshake line after the game, because we've been in the same place the past few years, with our shots not going in and the other guy's shots falling at the end of the game--I really had empathy for how they were feeling.

I have to agree--that was the kind of game SDSU was losing the past few years. It just tears your heart out after a while. Hard to take.

I hope we can make this a series between our two schools that goes well into the future--and make each other better as we go forward. Good luck to you and the Chippewas the rest of this year!
