Not jumping ahead or over any coming opponents. I will be returning to Brookings for Thanksgiving week and plan to do my darndest to be back before the tip on the 18th. Anyone know if this game will be televised and if so will it be available anywhere in Brookings? If not, would any establishment in town be willing to consider a radio broadcast and a gathering of Jacks fans? Otherwise, I'll have to listen with the in-laws at home. Really not a bad option but always looking for better ones.

Next logical question. Who in Brookings has ESPNU?We are here to add what we can to life, not get what we can from life. -Sir William Osler

Re: Illinois game
That is great news I had not seen that before! On national TV three times in the month of Nov.! 8)
Go State! ;D
P.S. I know Dish Network and Direct TV offer it. My cabel company has it on their regular sport package here in Shawnee, KS (Everest), I don't pay any extra for it. Sounds like some folks in Brookings need to call the local cabel company and request they pick up ESPNU since the Jacks are going to be on it so much.

Re: Illinois game
I assume (ass-u-me) that Cubby's has either or both Direct TV and the Dish Network. Am I wrong? Any other establishments with either/both of these? We are here to add what we can to life, not get what we can from life. -Sir William Osler

Re: Illinois game
Cubbys does have Dish and Direct and I believe are trying to secure a couple of games...check with Gus at Cubbys.
I have ESPNU on my home Dish here in Brookville, had to get the 180 channel package for a month but I though it would be well worth it.
Maybe we can get Mike_H to watch it...wait, I'm sure ESPNU doesnt even make a blip on the SF market. :-X he, he!

Illini start with decent basketball poll position
John Supinie
ILLINOIS
Tuesday, November 8, 2005
With just two starters and two of its top seven scorers back from a year ago, the Illinois basketball team has plenty of unknowns.
What it does have is Dee Brown, James Augustine and plenty of notoriety from last season. Evidently, that was enough to get the Illini the No. 17 ranking in the preseason top 25 released Monday by The Associated Press.
"If we're there at Christmas time, I'll be pretty happy," Illini coach Bruce Weber said following Monday's practice at the Ubben Basketball Complex.
Illinois spent 15 weeks at No. 1 last season - the longest run by any team over the past eight seasons - before advancing to the NCAA tournament title game.
If the Illini can get through November and December with a loss - or perhaps two - that would be good enough to keep Illinois in the top 25 heading into the Big Ten season. Weber would call that a success, since the Illini have plenty of young faces filling the playing rotation.
"I thought we'd be 15 to 25," Weber said. "That's where we've been in most of (the preseason magazines). There are a lot of question marks with a lot of programs, including ours."
Some teams have the bulk of their players back. Others have a winning tradition. Illinois has a little bit of both, Weber said.
"It's good publicity for the program," Weber said.
Illinois plays Quincy in the final exhibition game Wednesday at Assembly Hall. The Illini open the season Nov. 18 against South Dakota State at the Hall.
INJURY REPORT: Illinois junior forward Warren Carter underwent surgery Monday to repair a broken nose suffered in practice Saturday, when he was hit by an elbow. Carter will miss the exhibition game Wednesday but likely return to practice later this week.
Freshman guard Chester Frazier missed part of practice Monday after taking a hard fall. X-rays showed there was no damage to his tailbone, but his lower back was extremely sore.
Forward Brian Randle missed Monday's practice with the flu. Augustine missed practice over the weekend because of the flu. Guard Rich McBride sat part of the weekend because of sore feet. . . .
Go State! ;D
