With a name like VanDamme, I was envisioning someone with a MMA background. Nevertheless, I'm impressed with his resume and think he's a good catch.

On paper this looks to be a great hire! He has some impressive stuff on his resume and appears to be a knowledgeable teacher. Obviously, he has had some great players under his watch and they have done some great things.

I have been very impressed with what Jared Baszler has done with the golf programs at SDSU. He has put together some very good teams and had some outstanding individual players. Sad to see him leave but excited for the future with Coach VanDamme.

In TV's Tuesday Tidbits, he says that this fills 1 or 2 vacant coaching positions. What is the other vacant position. I should know, but it escapes me now.

I agree this sounds like a great hire from many different perspectives.


EDIT: I found the answer to my question. The softball coaching position is vacant according to the staff directory.
